I just the latest CVG (issue 239, October) and the cover feature is about the GameCube. How exciting. 10 whole pages dedicated to it. And I knew very little about Nintendo's new console so I read it and I am shocked by the overall shoddiness.
ATTENTION: ONLY CHILDREN UNDER 5 SHOULD BUY GAMECUBE!
Out of the twenty or so launch games, over half feature cutesy little animal characters and/or garish cartoony graphics. Pikmin? Super Monkey Ball? What the hell are they? They even made Zelda in to a cartoon! For a super powerful console, 2D graphics are not acceptable even if they ARE 3D but just look 2D.
And to make it even worse, hardly any of the games are original. There's the usual Mario/Luigi nonsense, Zelda, Star Fox, Bomberman (which I admit is cool), Fifa (obviously), Super Smash Bros and loads of other games which feature numbers at the end of their names. I'm not going to complain much because a lot of the best games on PS2 are sequels too.
And...oh god I can't even bear to say it...there's bound to be Pokemon. NO! Or, rather there will be Gamecube versions of Pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow, Purple, Green, Silver, Gold, Crystal, Platinum, Titanium, Aluminium, Cardboard and MDF.
But that's the end of my little rant. If you really like cartoony characters running around doing puzzles and stuff then I hope you enjoy your new GameCube. I'll just be driving on GT3, shooting stuff in Red Faction, slaughtering zombies on Code Veronica and couting the days until Metal Gear Solid 2.
That's it...

Oh Dave does'nt wanna bye Resi 1, quick stop production theres no point in making it now.
Oh by the way are you named after that guy out of The Bill cause if you are I laugh at you HA HA HA.

Yeah and then I will write my topic "playstation 2 one year on and still not that many good games". But i won't because I don't want to enter a boring console wars discussion.
I'm playing Code Veronica X NOW and enjoying every minute of it instead of waiting months and months to play it on a new console. I would have played it before this if I had bought a Dreamcast but that's a completely different story.

so people who might of wanted to get a PS2 for a certain game like my friend who wanted to get a PS2 for Code Veronica wont bother if it is GC bound.

Look 2D??? They don't even nearly look 2D, out of all you have mentioned on Super Monkey ball is a launch title. Anyway here we go, RESIDENT EVIL HORROR GAME 6 OF THEM GAMEUBE ONLY, ETERNAL DARKNESS RESIDENT EVIL BEATER, Too Human, Metroid, Perfect Dark, Too human, Galleon, wave Race, 1080, SSX, Picaso and cutsey doesn't mean adult oh god im fed up of the childish thing now.
And to make

Original ah? Have you ever seen a Zelda game like Zelda GC???? NO Why? Because it is Shigsy making each new game a differnt experience and i can telly ou the new Mario is very differnt, smash brothers is a sequel but the last one came out about 3 years ago now 3 years for a sequel aont a abd time to wait it is every year where a problem begins. Right and Star FOx has virtually nothing to do with the first 2 games not event the same genre.
And...oh god I can't even bear to say

It has left colours and gone to world Pokemon sells millions honestly trust Nitnendo to make a million selling game.
But that's the end of my little rant.

I will shoot people in the much better Perfect Dark and the awsome looking Metroid, i will race in Excite Bike, 1080 snowboarding, Wave race, i will slaughter Zombies in code veronica re made RE1 slightly re done 2,3, and GC only 0 and 4 and lol that was a silly one to do. And i will count the days till eternal Darkness
That's it...
Thank god.

well not really, okay if your looking for racing games like GT3 then maybe you could say it is a bit cack.
Otherwise there are a wide variety of games, not just cartoony platform games. Heres a short list of a few games that aren't cartoony platformers.
Tony Hawks 3
1080 Snowboarding 2
SSX Tricky
Extreme G3
Metroid Prime
Perfect Dark 2
Rogue Leader
Eternal Darkness
Dave Mirra BMX game thing
Duke Nukem Forever
The list goes on, okay theres are a lot of PLatform games but most people who are buying the console will be happy to play these games. Im sorry but games like Mario Sunshine are so far ahead of some of the mediocre pap thats being released for the PS2. Oh and before you say it, no I haven't played Mario Sunshine but I can gurantee you its an AAA title.
