I've read allot about Call of Duty over the past few months and everything I've read seems to suggest this is shaping up to be one hell of a game. It's a WW2 based FPS, created by ex members of 2015 who previously worked on MOH: Allied Assault.
The game itself is based around the closing years of the war, it spans 4 campaigns which take you from Normandy, straight into Berlin which is the overall objective of the game. The game also lets you play three different sides as you advance through occupied Europe, the ever present Americans, The (Finally we get a mention) British and perhaps best of the lot Russians, where you get fight through the ruined city streets of Stalingrad which looks, from the screenshots I've seen, amazing.
There's also more of an emphasis on team play in the game since in most battles you'll be accompanied by squads of fellow soldiers. The developers have also promised that some battles will include up to 300 troops on screen at one time which sounds hefty but will amazing if they pull it off.
Still, if you have yet to hear, or even see this game there is a demo out now which was released late last night.
It's got one level and sees you as part of a squad of US paratroopers the night before the Normandy beach landings. It's a great demo that really gives you feel of how the final game will play, plenty of high octane action as you fight through hedgerows and towns as you approach the objective to destroy 3 Anti-Aircraft guns. I don't know how fast/slow the servers on these sites will be, but this is a popular download so delays are inevitable. The demo was after all, meant for for release on Sunday, so there'll probably be allot of people wanting to try it themselves.
Just bare with it, it's well worth the wait.
Played it a little, somewhat underwhelmed to be honest, the trouble is nothing distinguishes it from MOH.
Firstly A.I. of your teammates, and the enemy is improved, I remember that in Allied Assault your "think as a plank of wood" allied buddies often shot each other in the back if they got in the way of an enemy, and they never peeked around the corner or hide for cover like the do in Call of Duty which made them more of Barney type security guard than a crack team of soldiers.
It's also nice to see that you can actually go prone and peek around corners yourself, because having recently played Allied Assault I noticed that while the Germans can do this, you for some reason can't. Why the hell not? it gives the enemy an unfair advantage. Not so in COD though, thankfully.
I also liked the cinematic quality of the demo, this is a game which does feel like Saving Private Ryan the game, because I never felt that Allied assault matched the cinematic heights of that film. In fact I think that all MOH games are more like Indiana Jones in comparison, fighting off hoards of soldiers and tank divisions, but it tries to fool you with a beach landing sequence that's far too scripted to really reach it's potential.
I loved fighting through the town in COD, with your buddies laying down covering fire as you flank enemy positions and take out MG nests, it's still an arcade game very much like MOH, but has enough realism to present much more of a challenge, and that's what I enjoyed about it.
I loved the demo and I'm off now to pre-order the full game. Having played it though I may hold off buying the Breakthrough expansion for Allied assault, unless I'm hungry for some WW2 action and need to wet my appetite for the release of Call of Duty.

Medal Of Honour Rising Sun interests me far more, it's a different conflict, so different scenery etc
