What?

I played it in a shop yesterday and, er. Muh? It seemed like a hyperactive video of Devil May Cry. I heard people ranting about it and wondered what all the fuss was about.

All I did was hammer the two attack buttons and jump.

If you stick at it, it's not too tough - just far too short. Very frustrating at points, though.

I can't get through level 19 (I think it is), the one with the purple prawn demon at the end. Tried about 20 times. Can't do it.

It's an ACTION RPG.

'Nuff said.

It is, but I still like it. It's just not as great as I thought it would be.
It's one of those games that on the first play through can be frustrating, but I suspect that once completed, and once I have most of the special items and weapons, it will be more enjoyable.

I can't fault the actual gameplay - it's meaty as hell. It's just damned hard. There's a lot of dying/retrying involved.

Buy if you like challenging games that need to be "beaten".
Avoid if you're easily frustrtated.

Strictly speaking, in this "Role Playing Game", you played the "Role" of a "hacker and slasher"!

I think that this was what the first RPG's were like back in the mid-eighties. Even the first Zelda was mostly like that, with a bit more exploration involved.

I suppose RPG's are normally associated with FF style, story/adventure games.

Calling a game like this an RPG is probably like calling somebody happy "gay"...

...unless ofcourse they're happy for a certain reason! ;-)

Bah, sounds like something of a missed oppurtunity then - I was always quite wary with it. Nevertheless, I'll still keep an open mind; at least until GamesTM's verdict.

Apart from the early levels, Otogi main problem is the level design: too small and not enjoyable. The gameplay is excellent, but the levels don't fulfil the early promise.
