I played it in a shop yesterday and, er. Muh? It seemed like a hyperactive video of Devil May Cry. I heard people ranting about it and wondered what all the fuss was about.
All I did was hammer the two attack buttons and jump.

If you stick at it, it's not too tough - just far too short. Very frustrating at points, though.

Wow, you obviously enjoy a challenge
'Nuff said.

It is, but I still like it. It's just not as great as I thought it would be.
It's one of those games that on the first play through can be frustrating, but I suspect that once completed, and once I have most of the special items and weapons, it will be more enjoyable.
I can't fault the actual gameplay - it's meaty as hell. It's just damned hard. There's a lot of dying/retrying involved.
Buy if you like challenging games that need to be "beaten".
Avoid if you're easily frustrtated.

Strictly speaking, in this "Role Playing Game", you played the "Role" of a "hacker and slasher"!
I think that this was what the first RPG's were like back in the mid-eighties. Even the first Zelda was mostly like that, with a bit more exploration involved.
I suppose RPG's are normally associated with FF style, story/adventure games.
Calling a game like this an RPG is probably like calling somebody happy "gay"...
...unless ofcourse they're happy for a certain reason! ;-)
