Bwhahahaha! Excellent point!

What I gather though, if Puddleface is saying that the computer has the original card it came with in, its going to be a stinker of a card (the one that came with mine is build into the motherboard, and is a 8mb one. Ouch!). Graphics cards on non dedicated games machines are generally poor, as are the motherboards.

As to whether a geforce fx NEEDS a 8x agp connection minimum, I think it does, but can't be 100 percent sure. It may run on a 4x AGP, but will bottleneck.

A good starter question is, what graphics card is in the computer at present. Pointless recommending a FX 5600 if the computer already has one. :)

It doesn't matter if your motherboard has AGPx8 slots does it? Only the card I'm looking to buy says it "Supports the new AGP 8X standard". It's just my board is only has AGPx4 slots so I don't want to spend money on a card that may not work on my PC.

I'm still a bit of a newbie to the different kinds graphics cards.

But this one looks quite good for the price too.

You'll have to make sure your motherboard can support AGP 8X on all geforce fx cards.

I bought a inno3d geforce 5 fx for 116 quid. Not a top of the range card, but not entry level either. I don't have any complaints about it. Its cool for the price.

I don't have the purchase link unfortunately.

One thing to make sure of. Double check your machine has an AGP slot (there are PCI cards out there, but don't perform as well). I bought a replacement computer for 300 quid after my old one died. Cracked the case, 3 PCI slots only. Bum. Cue forward 300 quid, a new motherboard, memory, processor and cd writer drive, I have finally have a machine I can develop on.......
