I think the film is great and I have seen plenty of kung fu movies.
I see what you mean saying the fight scenes are nothing on Bruce Lee fights but you have to remember that Bruce Lee was the best and Chow Yun Fat has NEVER been in a kung fu film before. Bruce Lee was also realistic fights (as he didn everything himself) whereas Crouching Tiger is swords and flying. They are COMPLETELY different.
And the bit in the desert is quite long, with no dreamy type sequence as you say, but only a complete retard would not realise it is a flashback. No offence to anyone who didn't realise. :-D

I think the film is great and I have seen plenty of kung fu movies.
