Some people may know the following but the majority probably wont, hence my post to inform the uninformed :p

To be released on the Gamecube in Japan around Springtime 2004 - Donkey Konga is a game with a complete difference, if you can remember Samba De Amigo on the Dreamcast (the game which you played with a pair of maracas) then you're seeing whereabouts Donkey Konga is coming from.

Donkey Konga will ship with a set of small Konga drums and the basic object of the game will be to repeat drum beats etc... sounds dull? well you may be forgiven for thinking 'yea actually it sounds like total pants' but its gonna be a total smash when it hits the UK late next year (around november 2004 i heard but dont hold me to this).

Fans of this genre really should be foaming at the mouth reading this, whilst non-fans prepare to be converted and become toally addicted.

The game is ofcourse based around Donkey Kong and published by Nintendo.

Nintendo are still releasing for the GC late into next year so dont fret, the future of the six sided sensation is secure for a while yet despite what some 'think they know better' people may wish to tell you.

Donkey Konga will hopefully be an EyeToy rival, there's no lightgun/dance mat/EyeToy type games out for the Cube, and it reall needs one to ive it the 'interactive laugh' edge that those games possess.

Mainly by the sheer nature of the game combined with it being a Nintendo published Doney Kong game along the same lines of Samba... on the Dreamcast.

I wasnt trying to seel you the game merely just letting you know its on the way and it will be massive if all the Japanese hype is to believed (and theres no reason for me to doubt it)

This really should and probably will be one of the biggest GC games released in the consoles short history so far, its a very bold attempt by Nintendo to give Nintendo owners something new, when you talk about games like Metroid Prime or Zelda being milestones and raising the bar of excellence then im certain we will see the same sort of degree of perfection with Donkey Konga.

Either way its good news that such a title is coming out and it also shows Nintendos continuation with publishing for the GC which in turn shows that the console has some longevity left.

You've said it's going to be a "total smash" when it hits our shores, but you haven't told us why.
