To be released on the Gamecube in Japan around Springtime 2004 - Donkey Konga is a game with a complete difference, if you can remember Samba De Amigo on the Dreamcast (the game which you played with a pair of maracas) then you're seeing whereabouts Donkey Konga is coming from.
Donkey Konga will ship with a set of small Konga drums and the basic object of the game will be to repeat drum beats etc... sounds dull? well you may be forgiven for thinking 'yea actually it sounds like total pants' but its gonna be a total smash when it hits the UK late next year (around november 2004 i heard but dont hold me to this).
Fans of this genre really should be foaming at the mouth reading this, whilst non-fans prepare to be converted and become toally addicted.
The game is ofcourse based around Donkey Kong and published by Nintendo.
Nintendo are still releasing for the GC late into next year so dont fret, the future of the six sided sensation is secure for a while yet despite what some 'think they know better' people may wish to tell you.
Rabid.
Look it up online... it still sells for about £60-70 on ebay with the maracas (thats how popular it was)
Like i say the game is a bold move by Nintendo and will probably sell by the bucket load worldwide.
The game will probably be playable without the set of bongos (using the gamepad as an alternative) so therefore will ship with and without the bingos to suit each persons pockets/preference... the bongos will most likely be available through 3rd parties like 4gamers aswell as Nintendo themselves if you chose to buy it at a later date (similar to the fishing rod in Sega bass fishing, not required but available seperately)
> Meh, I'd prefer a Donkey Kong platformer. Donkey Kong 64 ruled!!
A: No it didn't
B: Another platformer? Really?
C: Donkey Konga appears to be an excellent idea!
> This rabid fellow seems to be over excited.
Talk to me not at me or about me.
And if i seem excited to you then you should have seen me when Blues beat Villa away last season :p
All im saying is Donkey Konga is gonna be big and its something that we all will benefit from even if we dont all actually buy the game, this game will sell many consoles as much as Zelda or Metroid has done, inturn that helps developers want to make Qube games, its a circle of profit and interest for the GC and games developers like profit from their games so if more Qubes are sold as a result... well you get the picture.
;)
