After most of the initial shock of the horrific events that occurred Tuesday morning on September 11, 2001 began to sink in, some Americans began to wonder how it would affect certain things in their lives that seemed much more important just a few days ago. Much of the questions we've received here at IGNPS2 over the past 48 or so hours have been regarding the status of certain games that deal with violent issues.
The game brought up the most was Konami's highly-anticipated Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, which happens to feature terrorists in New York City as one of the game's adversarial parties. The speculation that has been circulating is that the game would either be delayed or cancelled in the West because of the recent happenings in the United States. Today, we've received an official statement from Konami Computer Entertainment Japan regarding the effects of the simultaneous terrorist incidents in the United States on its upcoming product.
"We do not know what effects there will be upon Metal Gear Solid 2 at this moment. We are currently collecting and analyzing information regarding this matter and would like to express our condolences to the victims of the tragedy."
Well unfortunately that could mean that the game may be delayed.

It's sad that MGS2 could be delayed. We have to be sensitive of course but I think (from what I've seen) that this could be going slightly over the top.
In Japan the release appears to be going ahead as planned so is the U.S. being a little over the top? The issue only appears to be that the NY skyline appears in the game - I'm sure that re-working some of it is a touch over sensitive.
The Spiderman film has had to be edited due to a scene directly involving the trade towers but I feel MGS2 could have been left alone.
I just hope that it doesn't affect the Euro release, it's shaping up to be an incredible title and I really wasn't keen on the first one!!

i absolutly love the demo of MGS2 that came with Zone of enders (Z.O.E) the graphics just rock and the gameplay is stunning. Although the demo had japanese talkin' (with english sub-titles) i'm sure that will add the extra atmosphere to the game.

looks like the usa game will only be delayed
so many ppl r on so the staff don't look at as many posts coz they think they r all spam.
i thought i had won tuesdays GAD but it was cancelled that day. ppl said that it was a really good post.

Its hard to win GAD's nowadays
even if i do win GAD which i won't that will be my game of choice. if not then i will pay good money for it.
I think that it is more satisfying to get games by post.The felling is great.Cant wait till SDJBI comes through the post.
