Argos decided that the GameCube wasn't selling enough so they reduced the price to £79.99 to clear stock. The GameCubes sold quickly and Argos stopped selling them.

Good news indeed I think, although too late for it to be put in the xmas catalogue :S Will Dixons/Currys follow suit I wonder?

But whats the point? It was only out of the catalogue for 3 months!!!
GREED was the reason - nothing else!

Because they temporarily stopped selling a console?
Nintendo commented stating that it was likely Argos were to re-sell the console nearer Christmas - they knew it was happening.
If i was Nintendo i would be tempted to tell them where to get off.
