Have you ever for example, been playing a first person shooter and thought, “heh! That car looks cool, driving it would be cooler though”? If you say you haven’t you are probably lying, delusional or both! If truth be told I bet we would all love for a game like this, a FPS where you could hop into a car and seamlessly enter a racing game.
This is something that has never been done, seamlessly joining two game genres, without having separate levels or sub games. After claiming this I am probably going to get a lot of stick and examples from you lot, but if you think long and hard you will probably find I am right…..either that or the words Falcone: Into the Maelstrom, Bounty Hunter and X-Box have just come out of your mouth *typed by your fingers*.
For those of you who haven’t been informed, Falcone: ITM and Bounty Hunter are two very similar games, both being released on X-Box, the former on Ps2 as well, the latter X-Box exclusive. Falcone: ITM is being developed by Point Blank and Bounty Hunter by Warthog. Its amazing that both of these revolutionary games are being developed at the same time, but also being revolutionary for the same reason.
Revolutionary??? Why? Well if you read the title or this far you will know that these games are obviously cross genre. Which two genres though? FPS and Space arcade shooter. The two games obviously have different storylines, but they have the same basic premise.
Both games are FPS/Space arcade shooters that seamlessly join the two genres. Take for example you are flying your ship into a space station, people inside could start shooting at your ship. You now have two options, land your ship and blow them sky high or you can take them out using the guns mounted in the ship. The more ways to kill people the better I say.
So why is it that this two genre game thing has only just come about? Well if you look at the formats of the games I would say it is because of technical limitations. In what way? Well its mainly due to the fact that both parts of the game have to be running at the same time. If this wasn’t happening, when you left your ship the next section would have to be loaded in, ruining the whole concept of the two games.
Now obviously I can’t say whever the two games I have mentioned will be any good, you never can be certain, but if they are I can see a market opening up for this type of game. So the question I ask you is, “Do you think that this type of game has the potential to be a success?” I know I do, but do you?
Captain Planet's switch from foot to vehicle was also done mid level.
It's been done before but who's to say that these games won't do it better.
I've no idea becuase I've never played/read about them.

Yes you are right, but the thing is, they have seperate levels in them. This isn't the same as the games I have mentioned. They aren't seperated by levels, the change in genre occurs during the same level, seemlessly. You see?

I understood that, it was just expanded is all. Why else do you think I mentioned Mafia as a game that has outdoor areas, a real time "living" city and the ability to go between driving a car and moving about in first person at any time. Another game that comes into this group could be Star Wars: Galaxies which is intended to be a persistent on-line world in which you will be able to be a RPG type character based in the Star Wars universe. They intend to have later add ons allowing you to fly starfighters (maybe even starships as a group, though that's just my idea, no evidence of this) and such thus making it possible to play an online RPG then go into an Online space combat sim in the same game.

Apparently I've won 7 gameadays, so I think I've already been noticed. Only 15 to go to draw level (it'll probably be more soon). I would write more reviews only they are too limited (only 4000 characters, if only I had realised my Smash brothers review would have been much less cut. I wish I had the uncut version around).
And possibly Zelda (Platforming RPG)
They're all around if you know where to look.
How about Worms?
The Platformer(there was plenty of jumping and manouvering)/Strategy(tactics are vital in this game)/Shoot em up(guns, and big ones)
They're everywhere!
