We all know what has happened by now.
And I've just got home and watched the footage.

I am at a loss for words as to what I have seen and heard.
This is the sort of event that defines a century, something you will never ever forget.
This is something that affects us all.

Personally, it has finally proven what I have thought for a long time.
We are a mean, foul little race of me-monkeys,incapable of rational behaviour and actions.
This attack today that has killed who-knows-how-many has finally shown just how utterly vile we can be to each other and it makes me sick.

And what frightens me?
George W Bush.
The guy that is president of America. A guy that left his home-state twice before becoming president, is in favour of the death penalty and for people carrying concealed weapons.

If this is not domestic terrorism, like Tim McVeigh and Oklahomo - I seriously believe that this is what can herald World War 3.
America lashes out, and a country that already acted in a totally inconcievable manner with these attacks will retaliate.
And the rest of the world gets sucked down with them.

I have no idea what to think or say about the events of today, they have left me stunned and feeling so sick and confused at this horrific series of events.

What I do know is that this will continue, everyone felt sick at Lockerbie and other terrorist acts like Omagh.
But we forgot and moved on.
I despair of our future if we are willing to engage in senseless acts of murder like this.

I am ashamed to be human today.

I think the days of Russia being our main enemies are long gone. Russia does not have the resources to fight a war and are too reliant on financial help from the western world to upset them in anyway. There is no doubt that over the last decade we have seen middle east countries growing in power. They are more of a danger now than Russia ever was.

Look at the tension in Kashmir,on the borders of Pakistan and India. Both countries have recentlty tested their nuclear armoury and are threatening each other with mass destruction.

Personally, I'm best not to discuss the Irish because, after having my head split open (admittedly only an inch, but open none the less) by a couple of Irish thugs that said they wanted to kill me, I tend to over react a little.

Hell, they probably would have kicked me to death had a police car not have driven by and scared them off.

So I try not to discuss Ireland, as I swear too much, and get angry, and upset people.

Not a dig at you, Meka, and I know these particular forums aren't necessarily the place to discuss it... but *why* are people always worried about stepping on people's toes?

This is where we as a nation have become far too soft and 'inoffensive' in my personal opinion.

But, like you, I must stop myself here. I'm not concerned about offending anyone, but - despite my outburst yesterday - these forums are not the place.

That thought also struck me yesterday, but I try not to discuss the matters in Ireland - it's too easy to tread on someones toes.

But yes, I was equally with IRA terrorist freed from prison, or let home for Christmas. They're MASS MURDERERS! When you have people stuck in prison for not paying their council tax, somethings a bit wrong.

I really am best to just leave it there right now.

I hope the Irish Protestants who protested the fact that Catholic schoolchildren are walking down "their street" are now thoroughly ashamed of themselves. Hopefully they will realise that their determined hatred is barbaric. Regret is the only way they will see any sense whatsoever.

And I must remind hypocrite-of-the-day Tony Blair after his speech yesterday about eradicating terrorism, that they let all the terrorists out of prison in Ireland! - and they still haven't surrendered their arms.

I wonder what happened to the Stansted hijackers? Are they locked up somewhere?

Sorry Mr Blair, but you and your government are softies.

My real fear about this whole hideous event is that it is going to unleash a level of global violence we haven't seen for many years. Bush will no doubt retaliate fast and furiously which doesn't bode well. $30 Billion was spent on national security of which the FBI and CIA are the main agents and they didn't know this was happening it doesn't look good for finding the right culprits.
Equally the ante has been upped in the most scary way. America may have fire power but it doesn't have suicide bombers. As all the securtiy experts keep saying you can't really protect against this level of fantacism.
I also suspect that anti islamic sentiment and violence will scale new heights. The pictures shown on the TV yesterday of Palestinians celebrating will only add to this. People need to bear in mind that Yassar Arafat the leader of the Palestinian people has condemned the act whole heartedly. Also people are already saying that those Palestinians shown celebrating are not typical of all Palestinians. If you noticed they showed the same pictures of the children celebrating again and again. Does this mean only a handful celebrated or they only captured this lot on film and there are others? Who knows. I just think at an emotive time like this people need to think a bit harder.
There were also reports on the radio that the Daily Star has pictures on its front page of people throwing themselves out of the windows. Doubtless the net has graphic gory footage all over the place. These people suffered a horrific death and yet any dignity they may have had is being shredded. Not that proof was needed that scum voyeurs and thier newspapers are swimming around at the shallow end of the gene pool.
I'm supposed to be working today but I figure that isn't going to happen. I lived and worked in NYC for a couple of years and all I can think about is friends out there. They are unlikely to have been killed - hopefully. But their lives and city have been blighted.
The World changed yesterday. There was a seismic shift in global relations. Where this leads to is anyones guess.

Every day there are so many tragedies, from murders and rapes, to earthquakes and other natural disasters.

Most of the time we can all hide away from these, behind our Playstations and MTVs, but todays evens were so huge, no one can just hide away from them.

When I got home I my fears were confirmed, the planes that were hijacked were carrying passengers. I think about the people in those buildings, normal people, some of them probably punting about the internet instead of working just like I was when it happened. To think of all of those lost lives down to acts of terrorism just sickens me.

Tony Blairs reaction sickened me, "There is a new evil in the world today" - like that's not a headline written for the front page of a national newspaper, to push him accross as being caring.

The media scramble for ratings, with the BBC and ITV trying to make their coverage and reports as action-packed and informative as possible to draw in the most viewers - but then stop it all to put on Eastenders, or Emmerdale, cancel those and what would the world hide behind?

Hopefully this won't lead to anything as major as Goatboy predicts, hopefully it will just be an act of terrorism with no revenge attacks. But we can probably bank on one thing, right now they're scripting the movie version, so in a couple of years you can watch it again, and pretend it never really happened, pretend it was just a movie, because that's what this world we live in is like.
