As I said in the other topic, I don't believe that this will lead to a world war. It has led to the closure of some airports and the suspension of flights for the time being, but that is nothing major for us, compared to the horror and devestation that has been caused to the USA.

I stressed, and will do so again, that a whole country is never involved in these affairs. Even in a major war, there is media coverage that attempts to maintain that all citizens of a country are to blame for an event such as this, but the reality is that this is just media hype and there are many people around the world, even in countries that hate the US, that will sympathise with their plight.

This is why these latest events will not cause a world war, but the focus will be on the individual group responsible for the crimes and no blame will be attributed to a country or a people. Even George Bush is aware that this must be dealt with on a calm and collected manner and may take much time to resolve.

I understand you are young, but I'm guessing you don't really understand what's happened today. About 50-100,000 people have lost their lives today, and it could be the start of something much worse. Please, don't make comments like that.

I heard it on the radio and he sounded very shaken indeed. We (the UK) owe it to the Americans to give them 100% backing with whatever happens from now. Naturally we all hope their will be a 'cooling' period before any major retaliation is carried out.

Reading the posts here and on the FOG forum there is clearly very strong feelings and people seem unaminous that retaliation is appropriate. I can't help thinking how we would be feeling right now if today's events had actually happenend in London and not New York. Imagine seeing the news tonight and hearing about upto 50,000 Londoners killed and Canary Wharf, Downing Street and Buckingham Palace hit by hijacked plans. Only when you really think about that can you begin to comprehend how the Americans are feeling right now.

we can do something , we can pray for those people who died today , we could even go down to local hospitals and ask to give blood , maybe it wont ever get to the usa , but it will be a good jesture towards those who have died and for those who need it , either here or in the us.
