The GAMECUBE games are looking fantastic! Trouble is going to be eliminating the games from the release list that I don't want!
And the fact remains that the Tokyo Game Show hasn't even been yet, in which third parties usually announce their releases for the coming year, and preview all sorts of upcoming treats.
So just from the 1st and 2nd party release schedule I can see many, many hours of happy gaming before me in it's first year, in a multitude of genres too!
Luigis Mansion will give me something a little bit 3D adventure-esque - though it's viewpoint is rather unique, also utilizing a first person view with Luigi's 'Game Boy Horror'. Catching the ghosts looks fun, and the light effects are quite stunning as he shines his torch. Can't wait.
Pikmin gives me a bit of a strategy game, something Nintendo haven't really dabbled with in the past, and this looks fun, with plenty of enemies to overcome, as well as other obstacles. With the ability to control over 100 pikmin at once it may be a little tough to keep up with all of my different strategies! Should be fun!
Rogue Squadron 2: Rogue Leader looks to be the ultimate Star Wars shooter, being based around the first three movies. Graphically one of the most stunning titles, and in sound too it's very impressive with the score from the movie recreated to perfection. It looks fast and frantic, that trench run will be fun!
Star Fox Adventures gives you a taste of Zelda-esque adventure, it's looking stunning, and hopefully will provide a sizeable quest to keep my enthralled for many, many hours.
Super Monkey Ball could be described as a puzzle game, and this looks intersting enough, but it's the mini-games and multiplayer that's got me interested. Racing, billiards, bowling, and many others should make this a great game to get out with your mates.
And on that subject Super Smash Bros: Melee will allow you to exercise your aggression in a beat em up featuring over 20 of Nintendo's mascot characters.
Wave Race gives you racing fans a number of gorgeous tracks to race around, with water features so good you'll have to keep a towel handy! It's looking really fast too, and there are plenty of tricks to master.
For those less serious about racing, Donkey Kong Racing will appear at some point. Apparently training your animals will be a major point of the game, but how this will be incorporated, I don't know.
All this too 'childish' for you. Then try Eternal Darkness. A horror game like none before it, a quest spannign many centuries, with many different playable characters, and a unique 'sanity' system. You don't just have to look after your body, but your mind too. The game also features a rather fun looking targetting system, with which you can chop/shoot off a zombies arms, or its head, or it's stomach - whatever takes your fancy.
I'm sure I've missed some out, but that just goes to show how many games I'm looking forward to, without even mentioning Sega's offerings, EA sports games, and other third parties.
Anyway, I was going to say nice things about all consoles.
The Playstation has many, many racing games, for those that like to race. And they're good too, apparently. Plus there are some decent horror type games, like Devil May Cry. Final Fantasy is bound to have a few fans, lets just hope it's not too darn story driven, you need some choice over what you do! And you're all waiting for Metal Gear Solid 2. That should be a corker.
But in general it's not the machine for me.
Okay, the Xbox.
Um, it has a fitted plug. ;-)
No, I'm sure there will be plenty of games that will appeal to plenty of people that aren't me!
That's about it...
James Bond : Agent Under Fire-This looks rather dashing, and for once is not a Bond movie turned into a game.
Max Payne-From what I've heard, one of the best FPS' ever.
Return To Castle Wolfenstein-Wolfenstein 3D was a classic, and I can't wait for this one.
After reading your list Bonus my mouth is watering, I never knew there were that many great games coming out! Bring on the future!
I don't really care which one is best - Nintendo or PS2
Nintendo and Rare produce the games I like and with Sega in there too now, that's more or less all I need.
All this arguing is just impatience. Filling the gap before the Gamecube is released. (And I've won 2 games for it :-D)
I do get ticked of when people resort to the Nintendo for kids stereotype, just like the PS2 crew hate their machine being labelled a sequel station.
> Ive heard reports that Final Fantasy XI will be Multi Format.
Nintendo and Square have some sort of problem with each othre they are trying to resolve, however Square would like Final Fantasy XI to be on every system as it is going to e an online game, they want to create a massive online community, cross platform to have as many users as possible. They are calling it PlayOnline.
I much prefer the look of what is to come on the Playstation 2 rather than the Gamecube, here is a run down of the games I'm looking forward to.
Pro Evolution Soccer; latest sequel of the best football frachise ever, enough said.
Devil May Cry; frantic ghoul bashing, with swords and guns, hmmm, some blatant action at last.
Herdy Gerdy; the most original game I have seen in a good few years. Learn the skills of the Herding Trade in an effort to become the Master Herder of the land, there are dark and sinister bad guys to overcome in your quest, looking good people, looking good.
Jak and Daxter; a platformer with a storyline, it's on a wait and see basis but the game engine is sounding revolutionary.
Grand Theft Auto 3; everything we would do in real life, and everything people claim games make us do in real life, they will never learn.
Metal Gear solid 2; you know the score by now.
Onimusha 2; we've had the first installment already, and the second looks even more spectacular, and apparently you lucky Xbox owners will get some of this series too.
Silent Hill 2; they don't come much darker
Ace Combat 4; simply spectacular.
Xenosaga; do I really need to keep going?
final Fantasy 10; hmmmmm, I need more money, or more blatant GAD attempts.
Tony Hawks 3, WWF Smackdown, Wipeout, Ico, Dropship, Rez, Tennis 2k2, Tekken 4, Virtua fighter 4, Prject Eden, Run Like Hell, Kinetica, Burnout.
And I'll stop right there. There is plenty more, and I fail why people can poke at the system for not having any quality titles out, or in development, I even neglected to mention that driving game.
Simple.
