I realise this thread belongs in the classic games forum, but cherynobyl has more visitors than that place :D
Ok, I'll go first, in NO particular order :
1) Mooncresta (ZX Spectrum) - Galaxian style 2D shoot em up, introduced me to the fast paced world of shoot em ups, a genre that seems to have died. Dodging alien ships and millions of round bullets while trying to annihilate your enemies. Very simple in every way, but playable to the extreme - evidence that graphics and sound do not make a game.
2) Flashback (Amiga/Megadrive/SNES) - 2D action/adventure/platformer featuring a superb plot, realistic game physics, a ton of missions to complete, fluid graphics, and truckloads of atmosphere. From the developers of the classic 'Another World', which was also way ahead of its time. Flashback was sequelled but the next in the series was at best unremarkable. Another genre that seems to be all but dead.
3) Syndicate (Amiga,PC) - Gave birth to the term 'squad based shooter'. Take your group of 4 cyborg mercenaries on increasingly dangerous missions in the violent futuristic blade-runner-esque underworld. Gun down gang members, enemy cyborgs, cops or just innocent people, depending on what sort of commander you are. Was succeeded by syndicate wars, which I haven't actually played yet.
4) Monkey Island 1 + 2 (Amiga,PC) - Introduced me to the point and click genre, and stirs many fond memories of 3 headed monkeys and other craziness. Some may argue that these games were boring, but they really made you use your head - you'd find yourself thinking up solutions while eating lunch, watching telly or whatever. Several other point and clicks of note are Day of the Tentacle, and the Indiana Jones series. Neither beat the monkey island games though.
5) Super Mario World (SNES) - My favourite Mario game of all time. 96 levels in all if I remember correctly. This came as close to perfection as any game could get in my opinion, and singlehandedly converted me to a nintendo fan virtually over night.
6) Zelda : A Link to the Past (SNES) - First RPG I played. Brilliant storyline, great japanese style cartoony graphics. Hundreds of locations to visit. Atmosphere to the max. Great.
7) DOOM Series (PC) - Easily the games I have spent most time playing, be it on the single player campaigns, Multiplayer LAN/Modem or creating new levels for it. Way ahead of its time, atmospheric, incredibly well designed and was the first game to make me realise PC's were not just for people working in offices. Superb.
8) Command & Conquer + Red Alert Series (PC) - Introduced me to the RTS genre, and still in my opinion the best of their type. The red alert games were slightly better than the C&C ones in my opinion, as the weaponry and storylines were more plausible and closer to modern day events. The balance between all the structures and units in the games is nothing short of remarkable. Multiplayer is a nasty tactic creating dream.
9) Goldeneye/Perfect Dark (N64) - The surprise hit of the decade, goldeneye shot to classic status instantly, and still holds its own against other shooters of today in my opinion. Perfect Dark, though containing a weaker single player campaign, took multiplayer to new levels, and with all those excellent weapons, arenas, characters and options, you could create just about any game of your liking.
10) Grand Theft Auto 3/Vice City (PS2, PC, XBOX) - Jumped from fun 2D killfest to the creation of a multigenre shooter/driver which allowed an unprecedented amount of freedom. Feel what it is like to be a mafia gangster with little or no morals and a bag full of guns.
Quite a lot there, I must be bored :D
1 Contra (nes)
Great 2d shoot em up decent difficulty if only they made contra4.
2 Syndicate (pc,Amiga)
See borats the first game I played on an amiga 500
3 Spartan X (Nes)
Kung Fu scrolling beat em up with some real funny sounds kept me occupied for days.
4 Die Hard Vendetta (Ps2, Xbox, Pc, Gamecube)
In here for the one reason of the hero time music.
5 FF6 (Snes, Ps1)
What a great game never ended maybe better than 7.
6 Goldeneye (N64)
Never really took of with perfect dark so this was my solution what a game anyone completed all missions on all dififculty seetings and got that ajustable level feature?
Thats all I can thik of now I will update it.
1.Jak 2:Renegade(PS2)
2.Ratchet and Clank 2(PS2)

For one, you shamelessly got your word count up. And secondly, you stated that you thought Manhunt was the greatest game ever created.
That's not even funny.

There are quite a few good choices in there, Borat.
My top ten games are: (in no order)
1. Manhunt (PS2)
2. GTA 3 and Vice City (PS2)
3. Final Fantasy 7 (PS1)
4. Alex the Kidd (Sega Master System)
5. Super Mario World (SNES)
6. The Legend of Zelda: The Orcarina of Time (N64)
7. Final Fantasy 10 (PS2)
8. The Legend of Zelda: Majorca's Mask (N64)
9. Metroid Prime (GameCube)
10. Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES, Game Boy Advance)
2-Final Fantasy X
3-Metal Gear Solid 2 : Sons Of Liberty
4-Final Fantasy 7
5-Final Fantasy 8
6-Final Fantasy 9
7-Kingdom Hearts
8-Onimusha 2 : Samurai's Destiny
9-Devil May Cry
10-Counter Strike
1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time [N64]
For being an epic work of art and a superb accomplishment in game design, bettering it's predecessors and remaining more enjoyable than those that followed it. As close to perfection as I've ever seen.
2. Deus Ex [PC]
For enthralling me from the outset and refusing to let go. The complexity of possibilities and beautiful fusion of RPG and FPS excellence left a game that is the very definition of superb.
3. Super Mario World [SNES]
For being quite easily the greatest platform game I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. It beautifully blends everything that is great about the Mario franchise and remains wonderfully enjoyable to this day.
1.Sonic 2 (Megadrve)
2.Desert Strike (Megadrive)
3.Halo (Xbox)
4.X-Com Enemy Unknown (PS)
5.Resident Evil 2 (PS)
6.Silent Hill (PS)
7.Soul Caliber 2(Xbox)
8.Tomb Raider 2 (PS)
9.Thunderforce 4 (Megadrive)
10.Tekken 3 (PS)
Goldeneye: Beaten by its predesscor in most departments but still completely class. The first awesome FPS that really had everything pretty much perfect.
Enemy Territory: My current favourite game. Online game so requires broadband. The graphics are pretty good but it's the gameplay that really drives it and the fact that you need to work as a team or you will die a slow and painful death. Awesome and extremely addictive.
HalfLife: Brings story, cool set-pieces and nice graphics together into one of the classiest FPS's ever. OOh i'm drowling at the thought of its sequel.
Monkey Island: The funniest game ever. Bring the simplicity of point & click together with LucasArts' great sense of humour to create one of the most enjoyable and funny adventure games ever. "You fight like a dairy farmer"
Commander Keen: One of the first games I ever played. Absolutely awesome from the brilliant Apogee. 2D Platforming at it's greatest. Class story with cool weapons and funky enemies.
Deus Ex: Oh god don't get me started. The coolest story possible with some of the coolest characters. Tons of weapons and CHOICE. The greatest element a game can have (probably) and it had loads of it. Plus your character wasn't a complete idiot so that helped.
Duke Nukem: I mean the original from Apogee. The 2D platformer opened my eyes to games and game design. Just so simple and easy but oh was it fun.
Zelda - Link to the Past: Probably the best Zelda and the longest one. A cool story with funky weapons and baddies just made it one of the greatest RPG/Adventure games ever.
Vice City: Finally a great free-roaming game. Although I know feel the game was severely flawed in some areas it is great fun to play and can be so relaxing. Pity it was pretty short and extremely easy.
sonic the hedgehog 2 - megadrive/master system/gamegear same as above except better graphics and 2 player mode!
sonic adventure - this is the best adventure game ive ever played its great.
half-life - pc/ps2 this took over 5 years to make and it was worth the wait. there new one coming out soon has taken over a decade.
sonic hereos - gamecube/xbox/ps2 sadly mine broke 2 days ago becoase my little sister scratch it! arghh!!
sonic advance - gameboy advance i used to play this in school as it was brilliant but not anymore becoase the second one is better.
sonic advance 2 - as above
sonic 3d - pc/megadrive same music as sonic adventure a bit hard to control but still great
sonic 3 - this one is good but it is missing a bit of fun i here
last but not least counter strike - just good multiplayer fun!
