If you have GT2 then GT3 has only better graphics and hadling- but less cars. It is more of an update.

the best way to compare 'em is to race tyhe same tracks with similar car. So get a copy of each, and race the monaco track in F1 2001 and the cote d'azur track in GT3 with a polyphony car.
I'd have to plump for GT£, the gfx in GT3 are better, as is the gameplay, and range of cars/race types. But the F1 cars are better simulated in F1 2001 (obviously) compared to the ones in gt3, and the increase in mecahnical grip with speed is best in F1. But you are limited to F1 races, if limited is the word.

Has anyone tried the psx1 version of F1 2001, i saw it in blockbuster when I rented the psx2 version.
GT3 is much better game, the physics of cars are very realistic, the graphics wipe the floor with F1 2001, i own both and i have to say Gt3 is way better, it will last you much longer than any other racing game, F1 2001 gets boring very quickly, F1 2001 is a very buggy game, which lets it down, Gt3 is the way to go and don't let anybody say any different, it has a wide range of cars, 60fps (F1 2001 is close but it runs @ 50), more courses and Gt3 has its own F1 Cars to unlock so why buy F1 2001 when u have Gt3 with f1 cars? there is no need, Gt3 also has an I-link battle mode and the 2-player split screen is also a lot better, stick to what we tell u on these boards and go for Gt3 after all it is the 'Real' Driving Simulator
