hmmm well are you SURE you need the cartridge along with the disc to make other regional disks work??
cos my copy didn't have it so i immediately thought that it was missing the cartridge...
but just now i tried it with a region 1 disk and region 3 without the cartridge...and they both worked fine....
i looked at my memory card and there was a new dvd region x file on it....
is the copy i have a newer one than yours??

Seems like, as mine came with the cartridge, and without it I can't even get on the region selection screen, so looks like yours is new & improved.
Yours sounds more conveniant but I don't the sound of region X corrupting my lovely PS2 memory card!
Un-official with official always seems to cause problems.
