The RTS world is hardly in need of a quality injection, to be honest. Warcraft III and TFT are hugely popular, as are Homeworld and Medieval. With Rome: Total War on the horizon and any number of other quality titles out there, the genre is looking very sexy.

Fair point. "If it ain't broke don't fix it" I suppose, as neither title needs reviving in any way.

Exactly. It's like a Half-Life RTS game without the hero Gordon. What's the point? It just becomes a shameless licence cash-in with no real relevance to the game whose name it uses.

No, but the idea of commanding the humans against the covenant and vice versa, minus Master Chief would be a pretty good idea.

There isn't, unsurprisingly, a Half-Life RTS. Neither, one would hope, will there be a Halo one. Why?

Because running about as a near invincible single person blasting endless swarms of aliens doesn't translate well to building a balanced army and tactically developing a campaign against an equally well equipped opposing force.
