We all argue once in a while about which console is 'best ever' but we never seem to mention PC's.

Consoles all come out, get a good supply of games and we end up playing and finishing them all. After that, a better game comes out. We all wow at its graphics, play it and finish it. Then the companies release a new console which is 'better than the previous consoles.' We all go out and buy them (Or many, many people have to save up for months and months until they finally have enough money to afford it.)We also need to buy more controllers and memory cards.

But when they do have enough money for it, the console is usually getting rather old, and everyone says "been there, seen it, done that." You end up thinking you wasted your money.

We never bother thinking about PC's. Once you have got a decent PC, you will have a HUGE games library to choose a game from. You dont need more memory cards or more controllers, just a mouse, keyboard an maybe a joystick. You can even update your PC, but you cant update a console.
Whats more is that you can do homework on a PC, and not on a console.

Consoles nowadays are being able to go online, but it is very slow and you end up with a huge bill. PC's are fast online and you can control the games better as you have much more buttons and controls.

So whats the choice, a console which will only last a year or two or a PC? I know a PC is much more expensive but it will last longer.

I know what I would choose...

Which joystick is best?

Is force feedback worth having if 50% of the cost can be saved? I can only afford £30/£40!

It's very true though.

I know, but then I've had this debate before. Need to have a preset copy/paste thing..

You don't really need to switch out of win2k for games now, I'm yet to find one that doesn't run, driver support (from nVidia at least) is superb, and frame rate/quality drops aren't really noticable. Admittedly, this will depends on the specs of your machine, but I couldn't bring myself to go back to one of their home operating systems.

Also, I'd never get fun win2k like "Your Password Must Be at Least 18770 Characters and Cannot Repeat Any of Your Previous 30689 Passwords", which I seem to have got last night..

I am a fan on the PC, for thr games like Max Payne, Operation Falshpoint,Black and White and Red Alert 2. And these games are great fun which will keep you occupied for hours on end. But what are the problems with some PC Games? The controls. They annoy me so much it is unbelieavble. Having to reach over to Q,W,R,A,S,D and the rest of them. Pressing buttons combined with others to just make them walk. I love the games as all consoles have a set capability. But the PC doesn't, that's why most good games will be manufactured for the PC.

I think it's good to have a healthy mix of PCs and consoles, if it wasn't for my PC I wouldn't have been able to play black and white, GTA and Driver + loads of others also, if it wasn't for my n64 games like Goldeneye and Perfect dark wouldn't have been played by me.... + I wouldn't have been able to come here if it wasn't for my PC and play great games online!

If you said PC's were not meant for games then you are right. They were origanally meant for work (I think).

But what about special reserve's maxx PC's? They are meant for games.

Amazing cos it was only bought in 1997!

It's still lasted a while and it still plays some new games.

My brother is quite good at making Duke 3D levels so if any of you would like to try them out at all, email [email protected] and I'll get him to send them to you (If you've got Duke 3D that is)
