The new PS2 adverts.

Started with the laughing stick-on mouth.

Now we have the dancing robot & the bird.

Could anyone else advertise their product without showing it or what it can do?

Simple and effective. Bizarre but highly memorable. I don't know how they keep coming up with them.

I hate the GameCube advert, it's clean cut rubbish. But you can't deny that the Playstation 2 ones are pretty funny, or at the very least, interesting. I'm confident that the 'Fun, anyone?' slogan would have been better suited to Nintendo, and I'm sure that right now they're envying such a slick marketing technique.

I'm also sure that if Nintendo DID come up with the idea first, everyone with a GameCube would be praising the ads to high heavens - not slating them for petty reasons like some are now.

I don't hate you, I just find you irritating on occasion.

And, anyway, i'm just wondering... what other reasons do you have for joining these forums?

Well, fortunately I'm not here to win friends and influence people.

Enjoy disliking me, because I really don't care.

I haven't been around here for months, and pretty soon I'll be off again, leaving you to whine about things with so many other haters who populate these forums.

So you don't need to worry your little head about it. Just ignore me and I will go away. Eventually.

I like the 'fun, anyone' advert.
I own a PS2.
I've just seen you post before.
This is all.

Maybe you are.

I'm only commenting on the adverts, not the consoles.

I do own a Gamecube, though. Just thought you should know that.

Hmm... correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I'm noticing a trend here...

This is degenerating into what could almost be considered a Console Wars thread.

Why do I say that?

I haven't been around here for a while, but if I recall correctly, all of the people who have so far said that they dislike the adverts are... basically...

Ninty's!

Shock! Horror!

I know I said I dislike the GC ad, and Cyclone was right - we aren't comparing adverts. The only reason is I mentioned it is the ridulous girly "Woohoo!" at the end.

I have no doubt I'll be told I'm wrong, but I'd be willing to bet the Ninty's would all be raving about the PS2 campaign and how thoroughly original it was... if it was pushing Gamecube.

Did I miss the punchline, or are these adverts just really not funny in the slightest?

I find them irritating. Especially the vulture one they always put on during the football.

Plus the campaign does clearly revolve around the "buy it because it's cool" idea that the PS2 has always pushed. Hpwever, it should be noted that this strategy works, it's still selling.
