Few questions about broadband Xbox Live before I finally get it around Christmas time.

Which ISP do you use and how do you find it? Any ISPs that don't support Xbox Live?

Do you use a router? If so, how much was it and how do you find it?

Is it possible to have two accounts of Xbox Live? (one for me and one for my brother)

Is the Rainbow Six 3 headset version really worth the extra £10? Can it be used with other games?

What are the best games? What's Rainbow Six 3 like.

Thanks.

Have you found out whether or not that router you ordered contains an ADSL modem yet?

Oh yes and RS3 is the best shooter since Halo. Arguably better. A definite must buy.

Nearly every ISP is compatible with Live. The exception (the only one as far as I know) being AOL.

I prefer ADSL to cable because the upload speed is faster on ADSL, unless you go for a more expensive cable connection.

The simple way to have two accounts is to buy two live starter kits, that way you get two headsets.

I've decided to go with Eclipse's 1024Kb/s service.

I didn't say there wasn't, just that if you leave it, they'll start with the monthly charges. personally I was happy to cancel this account and buy a starter kit, as it works out far cheaper.

No no no no, There IS an option to change it to yearly. I have changed it to yearly. I think it's under account management or something and then subscription or something. I don't remember exactly, but it is there.

no, we got a broadband modem installed when the broadband line was put in - this simply plugs into the router. the you plug your PC's and xbox into that.

yes, it lasts two months, and unless you tell them to cancel it, they will start charging you monthly after the 2 month free period

Does that router have a broadband modem built in? I'm looking for a modem/router which will enable me to share the bandwidth between two PCs and an Xbox. I also want to be able to go on the phone at the same time, but I'm assuming routers and modems etc make no difference to that. Do you know of any good modem/router combos?

How long does the Rainbow Six one last? Is it just those two months? Can you renew it and keep the username afterwards?

I know that telewest (cable) support it, as I use them. BT also do, as I got a BT CD with my Live starter kit.

You don't need one, but if you want to split the bandwidth between your PC (or several PCs) and your xbox, you'll need one. I have this one :

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/
products/index.html?action=
c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product
_uid=37451&_LOC=UK

which is reasonably cheap, has a built in firewall and is very reliable.

yes, I had two - one free that I got with rainbow six, and my 12 month one which I bought last week.

don't know really, but you get a headset with the starter kit, so I'd tend to buy that and the game separately. don't know what the r63 headset it like tho.

> What are the best games? What's Rainbow Six 3 like.

rainbow six is very good offline, but on live it is amazing - you definitely want to purchase it. I have mech assault, which isn't so good in my opinion. Other good games are PGR2, crimson skies, top spin, jedi academy and return to castle wolfenstein. counter strike is coming out, but all the yanks online say it is crap compared to r63.
