Reports from various media companies and websites are indicating that Nintendo has sent out a memo to its development companies requesting that due to the heat of the upcoming console war increasing, that they are to concentrate on producing quick and easy games in abundance to make sure that there are enough titles at launch to attract the casual gamer, and to concentrate specifically on bright colours, cartoony graphics, anything that's quick and easy to get onto a disc and into the shops.

Developers were quoted as saying: "Nothing new there then..."

I think the original message was in reply to ninty's announcement that only a couple of their own games are launch games.

However, so long as other companies reach their deadlines, the launch should be fine... avoiding the one-game-at-release N64 launch in Japan!

It seems that everyone who doesn't own something Nintendo - underestimates them!

I'm liking Strafex more and more by the minute, always stating points that I agree with.

To be honest, we should expect something like this, shouldn't we? Rumours flying aroung about the up-coming consoles? Ay, AY!?

Easy games? Bah!

Nintendo have produced some of the most intensely challenging games around.

We also have the hardest characters around.

Look at the Logan home page.
Mario gets shot with an arrow and it still doesn't hurt him.
He might have blood pouring out but he's still smiling.

Tough as nails that plumber is.

I bet Solid Snake and Lara Croft can't take pain like that!!

I'll agree with that as there is only so far we can go with visul affects. Just think what you've experienced in your life time already, the chances in gaming. I'm 14 years old and already I have witnessed starting from the Mega Drive and SNES all the way up to the PS2, even nowdays the graphics on the PS2 are remarkable espically Metal Gear Solid 2, but if you showed someone those graphics 2 years earlier they would have been speechless.

I will admit to this though I do not buy games for there graphics, I'll look on the back of a case and think to myself, WOW what good graphics, but if I prefer the game I'd choose the one with worse graphics and better gameplay then the other way around.

Bad graphics, shows us a bad game, but it doesn't really. It gives us an impression.

Yeah, FM! You obviously weren't thinkning about the topic... your bias seems to have got the most of you!

You disappoint me... :D

Sony's monopoly of the 'console war' will fade over the next 2 years, and I strongly believe than all 3 companies will have about a 3rd of the market each... they're all offering quite similar packages, and if one has to lead it will be Nintendo... because they have a bit of everything... Dad can play on Eternal Darkness, Tom and mick can play on SSB: Melee and Little Johnny can play on Luigi's mansion... Microsoft and Sony don't seem to think that kids play games anymore... Nintendo has the right idea.
