As consoles get more powerful, the video game industry has transformed into a visual presentation race. Sony's recent memo to stress graphics over gameplay is just a sign of the changing times."
Report from Nintendojo.
It's true though, isn't it, the real battle will take place on looks, with the casual gamer choosing the console that has the best graphics, assuming that it also has the best games.
Give it another generation or so, and gameplay will again become the main focus for developers, as all those that are there to be converted will have done so, the casual gamers will become more informed or lose interest - the size of the gaming industry makes in unlikely that there will be another generation of 'newbie gamers' that apparently were brought into it by the appeal of the Playstation.

Heh, even that's debatable!
If a game which I'd been playing hard through crashed it's unforgivable!! My playstation over the years has crashed just the once when i was curious to see what would happen if i highlighted every xplorer code and now i know.
I'll be staying as far away as I can from a PC in a box, Microsoft should stick at creating office software because thats what they do best, that and wipeing out the competition so they're the only choice.
They've already nicked Munch's oddysee and most of the xbox titles should be on the PS2.
