The N64 was always the best at creating water effects with games like waverace, I mean lets face it the PSone just CAN'T create any kind of water look at rapid racer haha oh man that's bad, but the PS2 has now arrived and looking at the graphical demo on the free disc I was STUNNED at the water effects the PS2 is capable of.
Over on the videogames site have a look at waverace on the gamecube which shows some pretty nice water ripples and has a great game too but then compare it to the upcoming splashdown on the PS2, OH MY is all i can say, I don't think anythng will top that for a long time, Lets just hope it has a game as good as the graphics to back it up.

i said in the topic that splashdown's effects are far better than waveraces, don't believe me head over to the videogames site and see for yourself.
Have you seen Wave Race blue storms waves on a video clip, wow is all I can say. I haven't heard of the game your talkin about but if they are better than wave races water then I would like to see it.
If you're stunned at the PS2's effects then you'll be knocked for six when you see the Wave Race: Blue Storm's!!!
The water effects in Baulders Gate for the PS2 are some of the best Ive ever seen!! Splashdown's however are the best Ive ever seen!! Lets hope there is a decent game behind all the glamour though!!
yeah i'm sure the xbox will make everything else look er BAD really but I still think splashdown's water effects are the best to date
Expendable on the PC uses Bump mapping to actually create ripples on the surface.
I know the PS2 can simulate it but this is the real deal.
As much as i dislike the PS2 i'm not trying to bash it here.
Bump mapping was not widely used when the PS2 was being developed.
I've got to sat though Soul Caliber 2 on the GC looks very impressive indeed. I uses proper anti aliasing and makes the images look superb.
If the X-Box is better then we will have some real eye candy to admire soon.
