I'm sure you've all heard the news. Sonic Adventure 2 will be released on the GAMECUBE.

It has yet to be officially confirmed, but come Spaceworld it will be. Almost certainly.

but how strange will that seem, sticking in the disc, seeing the 'Nintendo' logo, then Sonic tearing across the screen! I really find it quite hard to believe!

I remember when the original game was released. I don't remember the year, but the game sold out everywhere. Fortunately I had a Japanese Megadrive, and managed to get hold of an import copy.

The game was outstanding, it just seemed so fast, with Sonic sprinting across the screen, rolling into a ball, and flying through the air. The graphics were outstanding, simply the best seen on the Megadrive at the time, and the sound and music was awesome. Yep, this was one special game, amongst the best platformers ever.

Dr Robotnik also made the game special. One of the best game villians ever, at the end of each level he'd appear in some strange vehicle to attack you, but Sonic would send him packing with a few spin jumps on his head or something!

Then there were the rings. This game was different to others in the way that taking a knock made you lose your rings, rather than your life. If you had no rings, THEN you'd lose a life. This added the extra panic of trying to gather back as many rings as possible after taking a knock, hoping not to die. Added to this was the chance of a bonus game for getting 50 rings to earn Chaos Emeralds, this gave the game huge replay value, as you'd attempt to get them all.

Over the years Sonic made friends like Tails and Knuckles, and became hugely popular. the games moved on to with an isometric type view on the Sega Saturn, and a fully 3D adventure on the Dreamcast.

Sonic was Sega's hero. He was the main mascot, the one character that could gaurentee game sales bigger than anything else on a Sega console.

With the rivalry between Sega and Nintendo, especially back when Sonic was released in the days of the Megadrive, with it's rivally with the SNES, seeing Sonic on a Nintendo was something that I really never thought I'd see. But it really does go to show how things can change.

Back when Sonic was released I never thought I'd see a successful Sony console, but it happened, I never would have believed that Sega would cease console production, but it happened, and I wouldn't have thought I'd see Sonic on a Nintendo, but it certainly looks like it will happen!

Surely they can make a huge deal of this, maybe play on the rivally on the intro screen too, have the Nintendo logo on the screen, Sonic running past, and it changing to Sega. Or maybe Sonic could roll through it, smashing it to pieces!

Either way Sonic Adventure 2 is said to be a fabulous game, and it's grat to think it might get the chance to please a wider audience on a platform other than the Dreamcast.

Sonic on Nintendo hey? Whatever next, a successful console from Micrsoft? Well, stranger things HAVE happened!

Haven't had time to read the whole topic.......only the first message:

I've played Sonic Adventure 2 in Game on the Dreamcast and I thought it was brilliant!

If it does get released in the UK on the GameCube, I will buy it straight away even if it is exactly the same as on the DC! (bearing in mind I don't have a DC)

I saw the pics for Gamecube Sonic and the only difference i see between the DC and GC versions is the detail on the ground! and not to mention the detail on sonic too, is a little improved. But thats all.

Funny, I was sure I said that no one calls YH a comedy genius but I was distracted by his hasty escape and didn't notice. I wonder where I could get a coat like that.

I just realsied, that was a bit stupid. Ooops!

Anyway, from what I've seen, the XBox will get most of Sega's new stuff.

The PS2 will get mainly ports, with a few original titles, and the 'Cube will get a mixture.

What does that mean? Originals like PSO2? Sounds suspicious. As does Virtua Tennis, but I wont go into that.

PS2 is getting mainly Sega conversions.

XBox is getting the rest of the Shemue stuff, Project Gotham Racing (effectively M:SR2) as well as some sports titles like NHL 2k2, NBA 2k2 etc.

GameCube is getting originals like PSO2, and Virtua Tennis (I think, not 100% on that one.)

Sonic was too fast, you almost had no control. The best rolling guy was Turakken, especially with his smart bomba attack thing where he bounced about like a mad chicken firing everything he had and more. Funny, he must have been female since he bares more than a passing resemblence to the Metroid star, except that he had a white suit, and looked a bit different. Perhaps he was one of the bird people who gave Metroid woman (what's her name again?) the suit! Does anyone actually remember Turakken (was it spelt like that?) there were at least two of them.
