I have decided. I will get a Xbox over the GC. Don't ask me why or anything I just have. :)

But now comes the dredful part of acually SAVING up for the console itself, and im figuring I better start saving now in order to have enough at launch day for the console and a few games.

I remember the last time I had to save up. Two months paper round pay, a playstation+games and all my birthday money was required to get my DC( It was worth it too).

*groans* Let the saving commence.

I think ull find that ninty is being honest, the 6-12 million figure is with effects on (eg lighting fog bla, bla)where as the sony and microsoft ones are without any effects active. If any1 wants to chat bout this subject I have a post open called "Feeling the strain... what are the real values" post ure opinion there

cheers

The Gamecube's 6-12 was with full textures, lighting effects and all the other fancy tricks eating away at the processessors power.
Nintendo decided to be realistic rather than show off.

The other two companies boasted the maximum capacity but that's plain polygons without any special effects at all.
Naturally, a game made of these polygons would be pretty dull.

The real number that the Xbox and PS2 can do in-game is a fraction of that amount.

However, you'll probably find that the developers that make these games are rather attracted to the specs..

Specs are nothing. If the games are good and they run well thats only what I care about.

I don't know the GC's official count, and this is not a dig at Nintendo... but it seems to me that if you are already that far behind the competition before you launch, then you wouldn't really want to advertise the fact.

Buting the Gamecube at the launch date might be good 'n' all but if you wait one or two months the price is bound to drop. (remember the N64?)

This will give time for you to save up more money and by then you will have a wider variety of games to choose from as well.

Im getting a gamecube by the way :D

who is bothered about polygons (apart from you) shouldn't you be more interested in the games?

I think SR misprinted that about the GC.
