It got a really bad kicking by the press, but I reckon it's a good film, one to watch with a lady. I've seen it at the piccies and now I have it on DVD and I can't see anything abhorrently wrong with it - it's stylish, it has substance, I think the problem may be that the book wasn't apparently up to much.

The DVD rocks, if you like extras, you'll like this. Recommended by Snuggly and the News Monkey.

If you walked out of the cinema, why subject yourself to it again?

If you hated it that much, stick with that original opinion.

I don`t mind violence and gore in movies, but i do like well written, thoughtful thrillers that have more to offer than a shameless cash-in. Hannibal sucked, and its the only movie i recently saw at a cinema that i actually walked out of. Silence of the Lambs was a much better well paced film and a hell of a good book too.

However, now Hannibal is out on DVD, I might give it another chance, especially since the extras seem to be very good and certainly worth looking at. I just hope the film impresses me better this time...

I watched the film earlier this week and thought it was good, not great though. I read the book a couple of months back and I thought it was fantastic! I'm gonna read Silence of the Lambs and Red Dragon when I get round to it.

Read my review of Hannibal pleeeeaaaase!

Rented out the video earlier this week.

I thought it was alright, but not great. Not a patch on Silence of the lambs, but some of the gory scenes were very good.

Simultaneous hanging and disembowelling? Great stuff!

I got the DVD 2-disc thingy fer meh girlfriend and, away from the hype, it's a top film.

I still think Lector is a bit of a gay icon and not so malicious, but the extras are top, the alternate-ending is top.

The film is largely based on the book, which received a critical pasting when released. Thomas Harris wrote the book out of spite. He'd been horrified at the way 'fans' had taken to Silence of the Lambs and idolised Lector and revelled pruriently in the violence and excess rather than being disgusted and horrified. So, he wrote a book which ostensibly gave these creeps exactly what hey wanted, then pulled the rug from under them at the end. If you want to enjoy the joke, read the book. You can't get it from the film.

I liked the film, thought it was very stylish and the music was quite intense.

Well I enjoyed it, it was pretty gorey, which is always good!

The only thing that I didn't think much too was removing the top of Ray Liotta's head. It didn't look too great.

But wouldn't it be cool if Ray Liotta always looked like that. Goodfella's would have been hilarious.

The film only works if you view it as a comedy.
I for one certainly did not want a comedy sequel to Silence of the Lambs and (indirectly in film terms) Manhunter.
Bah humbug, I say.
