What the flying chimney are Nintendo up to?

In November this year Nintendo announced they would be making an announement. A pre-warning announcement no doubt, to get the hype wheel turning. Iwati claims it is not the successor to the Gameboy... nor the Gamecube... instead a "third pillar to go along side them both"...

eh?

Could he be geering us up for Pokemon mini 2?

Or are we looking at Nintendo's next big thing?

Could Nintendo be planning something so good that any fears about their future is laid to rest?

Or is this a new design for the Congo Drums?

E3 2004... wouldn't miss it for the world.

Oh... And I thought this was gonna be a thread about Scooby-Doo or something....

Which reminds me; there's a guy at work who DRIVES the `Mystery Machine´!
Yes! It's true!! Same van; same colour - and it's even got the lettering on the side, too!

Better yet, we had some customers - big-off, arrogant customers, aswell - holding up the road exit/entrance at work because they wanted to get their picture taken next to it! :D

I don't know if he won it, or if he really did it himself.... It just `makes a difference´... Somehow?

And, anyway, I don't reckon this new piece of "hardware" is gonna allow DVD-capabilities or anything, but NGC reckoned it could be a hard-drive add-on for on-line games, or something...?

I do not think that it will be a psx-like machine, with GB and GC support.
Why would Nintendo release such a machine when they are making loads of cash on the GBA, the GC and the Game By player.

I think that it will maybe be a virtual boy wich can be attached to the cube or used as one machine alone.
Since the failure of the original, lots of new technology has been made and i think that Nintendo is ready for the next step in gaming to make the player more involved in the game.

Perhaps this new hardware that will go alongside the GBA and Cube, will allow you to play CUBE/GBA games over the net, ok it's likely not to be an online thing, so we'll have to wait and see...

It could be a PSX-a-like - one big entertainment hub.

Maybe even a GC with integrated GBA and wireless controllers (with rumble). Maybe DVD support? Who knows? Something like that wouldn't technically be a successor to the GC or GBA, just a fusion of the two.

My money's on some kind of mobile device at the moment.

Satoru Iwata said the new hardware will "enable fun and movement not seen before." And also it's “a third pillar, next to GameCube and Game Boy."

Not VR again, surely?

Maybe a GB/Cube hybrid?

I'm hopeing for a new system craze like Game and Watch and Gameboy.

Something that allows Nintendo to print money once again!
