Whatever system/console you choose, you're always garaunteed to miss out on some top games.
I've known countless Playstation owners who'd never those an N64 over their own machine but loved Goldeneye and Mario Kart 64 and couldn't get enough of it.
I'd never buy a Playstation but I'd still would've liked to have played through games like Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid.

For every system you played but never owned, list the 5 games you missed the most on it.

I'll start.
I've had an Amiga, a Master System and an N64.

On the Snes:

Super Mario world - One of the greatest 2D platformers ever.
Donkey Kong Country - THE greatest 2D platformer ever!
Final Fantasy 3 - A great RPG I only played a bit of.
Metroid - Never played it but everywhere I hear how great it was.
Zelda - Having played it's N64 sequel, I really want to play this one.

There was the Mega Drive:

Sonic 1 - Played the inferior Master System Version and always wanted it's better counterpart.
Sonic 2 - Like the first only better.
Sonic 3 - I was really into Sonic, I would've bought the Mega Drive but I never got the chance...
Sonic and Knuckles - Well the others weren't complete without this one.
Fifa - Fifa was good in the days of the Mega Drive. It was a good 3 years before it got stupid.

I never played a Saturn (although I know of a fair few titles that are meant to be good, e.g. Nights and Panza Dragoon)

The Dreamcast (Which I would've bought had I not played Goldeneye!):

Sonic Adventure - I hardly need tell you...
Crazy Taxi - Brilliant idea, brilliant game. It also reminded me that Americans drive on the right hand side :-D
Shenmue - Not actually played it but seen enough of it to know I'd like it.
Phantasy Star Online - I won't miss out on this one though. It's on the Gamecube too.
Sonic Adventure 2 - ...

There's the Playstation:

Crash Bandicoot - This was Donkey Kong Country gameplay with a neat 3D twist.
Final Fantasy 7 - I got sucked into the story line at a friends house but never got to go very far. The unfinished story is killing me...
Metal Gear Solid - Very unique and original game.
Teken 3 - The N64 never did get a serious beat-em up.
Point Blank - I thought that this game was stupid and rubbish until I played it at the arcades. Dangerously addictive!

I've not played any PS2 titles yet but I'm sure there's some fair ones around too.

A lot of decent Saturn games still cost £5, and the Saturn is something original. Games like Daytona are far better on the Saturn than the Dreamcast, so there is plenty of reason to get one. Guardian Heroes and the original Gun Griffon are two more excellent games, as are Athlete Kings, NiGHTS and Exhumed (which is actually better than the PSX version)

When the console is as low priced as this, it makes sense to get one and a PSX to have the best of both worlds.

Resi, I think that you'd find lots of games on the DC and Saturn you'd love.

Sure, they've got no NEW games but they're stuffed tightly with old classics.

The N64 has Zelda, Mario, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Jet Force Gemini as just some of the greatest single player games you'll ever play. (Not to mention a host of great multiplayer games too, something even the PS2 hasn't managed to come close to matching yet)

You didn't have enough for both them AND your PSOne titles when they first came out but now they're going cheap, they're well worth going back to.
I don't think I need to tell you about the Dreamcast because if I remember rightly, you already have one but again, from Sonic through to Skies of Arcadia you're garaunteed great games.

Even the Saturn has one or two games worth playing.
Burning Rangers, Nights and Panza Dragoon are all meant to be great.

I think that PB has the best idea.
Choose one modern console to enjoy the latest games on that system. And by the time you're fed up with it, the alternative systems will be cheaper will several great games out.

Super!

Yes Ild say that people should stay clear of the Saturn, when I bought mine for £30 second hand I got a bargain as games for it were still available and cheap. Panzer Dragoon for £5 being one example,£5 for Sonic Collection being another.

But in all honesty now games are so cheap for the Dreamcast and Playstation a Saturn should be avoided!

Saturn games now cost a mint because theyre so rare.

ooooh. You're on dangerous teritory their! ;-)

I love my Saturn and the reason I didn't sell it was all the ORIGINAL games that came out for it. So many lies were touted around by people who didn't like Sega at the time that some of them stuck. Trust me, the Saturn is worth picking up second hand for £25 (which is what they usually cost now) and then getting some great second hand games for it.

mmm I'd like some games on all consoles but i think red faction is better than goldeneye and with agent under fire just around the corner there's no need to buy a 64 now. Mario kart 64 is fun and i think beats all PS kart games hands on but we have some great alternitives like crash team racing.

Dreamcast haha there's no need for one now, all the great game are being converted and touched up even like fur fighters, CVX and we're seeing some exclusive sega titles on every other console anyway so whats the point.

PS1, well if you want the most popular console ever made that is going better than any other console even the PS2 then its worth picking up one of these, although i do think sony should have added some enhancements to the PS1 like mip maping or something but it as just a way of remarketing it i suppose.

Saturn- HAHA except for the extra battle mode on res 1 this has very little to offer, I've heard some of the game sounds don't even come out. haha stay well clear

Remember the announcement that Sega made about selling Dreamcast technology to other companies so that their DVD player could play Dreamcast games?

I'd really like it if Nintendo put it in the Gamecube.

I don't think that's a realistic idea though...
