Yes, it`s been done before.
No, it won`t be as lond as the FOG version.

Why am I trying it out anyway?

The PS2 forum is a very interesting place to be, but it can also be a little quiet. I though perhaps if we had a topic with several hundred replies lurking at the top, things would look more popular.

Feel free to use the topic to talk about anything. Either the latest PS2 game, latest ideas for including some female star in a game etc... or even just the usual chat that happens all over.

As I expect this to fail, I`ve decided to spend a little while pushing up the replies. No spamming, just lots of nonsense :-)

Any help would be great, it`d be boring to have a whole topic with replies from only me.

No, I told my boss to do it (he's the only one who uses the database in question) but it turns out he doesn't as he expects me to do it, which I will be doing from today.

Guilty of knowing but not doing :)

Yes, all my stuff is backed up and taken home. Stop gulping :D

Spoken to IT guy (subcontractor) and he said I've done everything right and if it was up to him he would also delete all ACT stuff from the two computers and the old files from the server. Now we only need to convince my boss!

The only thing he could say without having a proper look at it is that the brakes are un-roadworthy. I also know there is a hideous rattling underneath the car that gets even worse when braking (could be the same problem).

I had a look at it myself but couldn't find anything obvious. But then again, I'm not a mechanic.

Yup, as soon as I can, I'm selling it and putting the money down as a deposit on a brand new car.

Your last backup was on the 23.07.03 - jesus that's rather a long time ago, do you not do backups on a daily basis? You should know that backups are an essential IT function, plus they should be stored off site .... you do store off site dont you?

I was going to say last backup was 23.07.03 but in reality it's the one I did this morning. I gave the backup disc to my boss and asked him to confirm everything was okay. Somehow he merged the info on the disc with the database on the server and we lost loads of info off it.

I've just checked the backup myself and it looks like it's all there. Now if it was up to me I would delete the ACT program off both our computers and the server and do a clean install but he wants to get the computer guy in.

The only problem is - my boss is so unsure about deleting things permanently off the system that the guy who comes dare not do a clean delete either so we end up we copies of the progam all over the place.

Apparently it's unsafe for the road. It's booked into a garage for Thursday and I'm now forced to borrow my Dad's car. As soon as it comes out of the garage, I'm putting it up for sale.

Hell don't worry about that, just restore it from the last good backup, you'll only lose a days work but I'm sure your colleagues wont mind :P
