I've just rented out Hogs of War for the Playstation and I thoroughly enjoy playing it.

The game play is quality and some of the comments these little pigs make are hilarious!

What made me write about this was the amount of games that have their main character/s as animals. Why is this?

Is it more fun controlling a porky little piglet than a brave fighting soldier?

We have fur fighters, banjo and kazooie, sonic the list goes on.....

These are great games and just wouldn’t be the same if the characters wre human. A speedy blue hedgehog is pleasing to the eye and pretty funny too.

These games let our imaginations run free because in real life the situations that these animals are in would just not happen! I mean have *you* ever seen a hedgehog run like sonic?! Don’t answer that! :-)

Are we going to see more games in the future involving animals in them, and if so what kind of animals?

Will we soon be seeing "Simon the Stick Insect"?!

Personally I don’t think so, But I do know one thing.....

Sonic the Hedgehog is always gonna be around!

Personally, I'm offended by the lack of Iguanas in gaming. Simply shocking really.

Um..yes. Of course, there was spider for the playstation, and I just found an old shareware disc with hundreds of (poor) games on, many about animals, "Return of Ninja Rabbit" being a personal favourite..

Iguana the ... Iguana.

Didn't Namco make an armadillo racing game for the PlayStation a few years ago? I think it was only released in Japan, but there was a campaign to get it over here.

Then there's parrots. Parrots have never

Well...There was a Sound Blaster demo for the SB16 line, which had a talking parrot saying various phrases when you typed stuff. Not really a game, just encouraged you to chuck your computer out of the window..

Giraffes! My goodness, lots of

Can't think of any giraffe games...yet. Probably a shareware one years ago. There were surely some in that Sega safari arcade game though..

Damn straight.

Definately too many monkeys! :-)

What about these:

Harry the Heroic Hamster

Gordan the Guineapig

Stan the Stinky Seaweed

Can you think of any more we may see in the future?! :-)

We need more armadillos, there's an awful lot of fun to be had with armadillos, especially if you stick spikes on their backs and arm them with broadswords.

Then there's parrots. Parrots have never really been in the limelight, and I'm sure the pollys of this world would wish this to be rectified.

Giraffes! My goodness, lots of long-necked fun to be had there. A giraffe called Gerald would be ideal.

Finally, there's too many monkeys.
