In games, especially where environment is all important for setting the scene, realism is a priority.
And if I'm spending £40 on a game, I want my icecubes to melt properly.
Either you could say they've wasted a lot of development time on icecubes that maybe could have been better directed into the gameplay
or
You could say that MGS2 is setting standards in physical law depiction on a console that other developers are going to have to meet in the future.
When MGS first came out on the PSX, most developers took a quick look and said: "Know what guys? We're gonna need a bigger console here..."
but MGS the original just blew every other PS1 game out of the water for it's detail and realistic enviroments and MGS2 seems to have fixed nearly all of the faults seen in the first game and it looks damn good.
I JUST HOPE YOU CAN SKIP THE FLIPPING CODEC TALKS.
