I'd played bits of the game before, but had never played from the beginning.
I 'played' for an hour and a half, but in all honesty, I felt like I only actually played for about 5 minutes.
The rest of that time was filled up with cut-scenes and tutorials.
I found this SO incredibly frustrating.
I do like RPG's, well ones from the SNES era, and was expecting more from this, but I felt I was just on my way to the next cut scene.
Well at least the cut-scenes look good. They're impressive, and tell you the story, but honestly, I really felt that it was wholly unnecessary. The story was still unfolding slowly, but with added crap I didn't need to see, or need to know.
What I actually got to play I did enjoy, but it was so frustrating starting off.
Surely as i progress in the game I'll be left to my own devices a little more? Please?
In batlles I found the Gf's very handy indeed, they certainly helped me beat that guy that looked like a demon, and becomes a GF himself once you beat him.
But did I have to see the stupid animation every damn time?
Oh look, some icy bird has popped up out of the ground. She's scantily clad, how exciting. Oh look, she's firing ice at that guy. Again. And again. And again.
No wonder the game is on four damn discs.
FMV could be a useful tool, but when it detracts from playing the game? No thanks, I don't want it!
Some at the start of the game to set the scene is good, a little when you meet a major character, or defeat a major enemy too is acceptable. Loads at the end too. But please, let me actually play the game too.
Sorry, but i'm not a know-it-all when it comes to this stuff, but i've always thought that FMVs were full motion videos - the ones with absolutely brilliant graphics; or can they be FMVs with normal, in-game graphics as well?
Or am I just being stupid...again...?

Red Faction also used FMV sensibly.
Hmm yeah I liked MGS and I hope to be able to play its sequel sometime...and I want to get Red Faction either for my PC or my PS2 if I get it!!

I think it was better that you got to save

Yeah, preach it brutha. I've got Xplorer cheats for FF7 and FF8 to Save Anywhere. Xplorer rules.

I think it was better that you got to save whenever you wanted to-I've always found save points really annoying, as you could get so close to the next save point, and then get killed and have to do it again.
FMV is definately used too much in the early stages of the game, but it does calm down a lot throughout most of the rest of the game.
Sadly, the GF sequences get longer and longre throughout. It gets to the point were the last GF you get (Eden's) sequence takes about 2 full minutes!!!
On the upside it takes off 5 figures of damage:-)
Play the game and you'll see that you don't NEED to rely on your GFs. They come in useful, so its not like there useless, but there are other ways to take out the baddies.
(also when you get the "lionheart" limit break with Squall, all other forms of attack become secondary)
> shame about the loading in Red faction.
Yeah, that got annoying after a while.
