Well I got rid of WMP and got RealJukebox... same bloody problem... so I have came to the conclusion it must be crappy Windows 98 or my CD drive.
You don't know how frustrating this is for me :D. Well I have an WindowsME disk but I am wary to use it and I am asking for advice.
It is one of those things that loads all of the factory settings onto your computer (brother's). So should I just have all his settings on my PC as it will be an upgrade and I was think of defragging anyway.
Although he has different specs to me, would it work or not?

Ok thats a software problem, need something that plays music from a cd not just MP3's. Something like WINAMP should do the trick.
It reads everything else ok except CD's (music)
DVD's fine, Games fine but not bloody music

sounds like your cd drive isn't set up right or faulty if it dosn't read any disk. Try different disks, do any work?
