Well I got rid of WMP and got RealJukebox... same bloody problem... so I have came to the conclusion it must be crappy Windows 98 or my CD drive.

You don't know how frustrating this is for me :D. Well I have an WindowsME disk but I am wary to use it and I am asking for advice.

It is one of those things that loads all of the factory settings onto your computer (brother's). So should I just have all his settings on my PC as it will be an upgrade and I was think of defragging anyway.

Although he has different specs to me, would it work or not?

Ta :)

If you are running Win98. Make sure you are using the analog input, And not the digital input from the CD rom drive to your sound card.

In the start menu in accessories, then entertainment and run CD player, try playing a CD. if it works your problem is with ripping. If not, it's a CD drive or software problem.

A good kicking usually does the trick for me but now my computer is falling apart due to "misuse" ;D

Not sure sheepy. Try a defrag then scanning all your drives for bugs and scan the actual cd.

Should work. If not take it to a really cheap computer bloke.

Or get me round. I'll polish my boots up real nice for it ;)

have you put in a new sound card recently. Also check under programs/multimedia on the start menu that you have a thing called AudioCD.
