There are absolutely loads of genres of gaming out there but which one is best? Some say that it may be a matter of personal opinion but I lets analyze all the genres. What are their advantages and disadvantages. First genre.

Action.
Normally involves guns and or a non-original plot that includes inflitrating a base or killing a load of bad guys. It's strengths are that it has a very large audience but they are normally unoriginal.

Shoot Em' Up.
Quite similar to action expect...well, more guns. You almost always have a Glock '47 or an Uzi at your disposal. Again, they are very popular but unoriginal.

Horror.
Not for the faint hearted! I think that there are not enough horror games on the market. Always involve zombies and a situation where you must escape. They have a very big audience but there are not enough of them if you ask me.

Role Playing Game.
There are not too many of these gems floating in the gaming stratosphere. When found, they are games you will want to hang onto. They are usually at least 2 discs but are up to 5 discs. The most famous RPG's are the Final Fantasy series, which is now up to it's 9th installment. They have a big audience, especially in Japan ( their origin ) but some people find them too long or too hard to get into and are also people are waiting for them to be released for years ( literally ).

Sports.
Normally trying to be a simulator, these games often end up failing miserably due to the fee to buy the license for the sport and not having much money left over. They are realistic but they are normally disappointments.

Strategy.
A lot of the Strategy games have an excellent FMV intro but then very disappointing in-game graphics. Basically every strategy game you play will have the same graphics. They are very addictive but if the graphics were, better, I think that it might help.

Simulation.
A very small market for games like this. Some of the famous ones are Microsoft Flight Simulator and Train Simulator. The graphics are very good but the games themselves are normally nothing special.

Driving games/adventures.

I had to pick two because I like them both equally.

I'm still waiting for the first driving-based adventure.
Now that would be video game heaven for me.

Games like M:SR where the game is huge, but you can do it in littl bits.

I hate being forced to site down for 45mins per session. Sometimes I like to play a game for 10 minutes while I'm waiting to go out or whatever.

Any games that allow a quick 5 minute game, while still lasting a long time (if you seen what I mean) are fine by me.

It is a matter of opinion and mine has to be survival horror because if done well it will grip you tight to the game all the way through.

WORST GENRE and fact not matter of opinion is interactive movies no not RPG's a game which requires a click every 5 minutes between the "game" and it's sooooooooooo DULL, This is the least succesfull type of computer game.

I like RPG's and Action games, as they similtaneouly allow you to have a quick game and a long adventure, i would like it if these genres were combined, a little like perfect darks multiplayer, where your character gains rank after reaching certain targets, i think this would be quite fun, and it would probably make a game which has good longevity.

RPGs for me, like Final Fantasy, Suikoden, Grandia 2 or Skies of Arcadia.

Then Adventure/Action like Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, Legacy of Kain and that kind of thing.

Followed by Shooters/Racers like Silent Scope, Speed Devils, MSR and Gran Turismo.

Everything else I don't invest as much time in, but still enjoy, like FIFA 98, Hidden and Dangerous, even Chu Chu Rocket or Shenmue as long as it's not prolonged.
