We are going to war!!! Console war that is, microsoft with the xbox and nintendo with the gamecube. personally I prefer the latter and at a hundred quid cheaper than the ps2 and the xbox, why not?

But seriously, Why on earth have microsoft charged such a high price for their scaled down washing machine thats about the same size as a video recorder when Bill Gates has clearly got enough money to cut down the price of his console rather than spend it all on advertising. All the advertising in the world wont sell your system if its rubbish.

Nintendo on the other hand have a different view, small cube like and gorgeous to look at and with nintendos financial backing and firm establishment in the console industry who would you place your bets on.

Let me know what all your views are but please dont criticise poor ole billy for his incompetence, he may win or lose. Either way he sure aint believing the hype.

Xbox will be a resounding success.

But Gamecube will fail disastrously.

I've got a big stick, and I'm using it to stir it up.

I'm sick to the shoulder of people going on about how the X-Box will fail. It won't!

Okay so it's a first console and it still has to prove itself to the public, but that won't be hard.

The problem Microsoft have is setting up a mascot. It may be Abe, but even he isn't nearly on the same level as Mario or Sonic.

Ideally they should have bought Sega... they have loads of ace franchises and it would have given them much insight into the industry...

It would also have enabled them to get a foot in the Japanese market. There is still a big calling for Sonic and Co. and there were millions of people that were sorry to see the DC go.

But the fact of the matter is that Microsoft DIDN'T but Sega so how are they going to get in with the Japs?!

My theory is that they'll try to create a medium with the games they sell. If you look at the launch line up it's quite eclectic meeting nearly all the genres using quite a few well know or highly anticipated game franchises.

I don't see them struggling at launch, and if they can get the X-Box over here before the Gamecube AND another PS2 price drop they should be able to take a big enough piece of the cake.

One thing that worries me is that if Microsoft can't sort out the Japanese and European release dates soon they won't be able to manage the number of units they distribute. In laman's termsd they won't be able to decide how many X-Box's each country gets and when they get them.

To say this worries me may be an 'overstatement', because i'm Nintendo through and through, but I still want to see Microsoft do well... purely because I think they can bring something to the gaming market that a names like Nintendo and Playstation can't:

A whole new tye of gamer. I wouldn't call them the 'PC Gamers' because you'll still get loads of 'them' who won't even touch anything console related.... but the X-Box will bring a lot of older gamers into play... and through this we might see the companies turn towards a more mature audience.

It's quite a long shot, but with games like Halo etc Microsoft were never going to attract little Johnny away from Pikachu and Mario.

Hopefully, Microsoft will stay in the market with Nintendo and Sony... I just hope that they're in it for the right reasons, because if they're not, Ninty and Sony will go straight to the matresses, as it were, and Microsoft won't be around for long...

If you put the prople first the money will come... if you're money mad, people will see that through your games and the way you treat them.
