Bullett, that's what I was saying before - the game wasn't adapted to the MGS2 style, so it becomes incredibly easy when you are able to target everything in 1st person mode and shoot out cameras. It is totally devoid of any challenge other than those you set for yourself.

The camera is still there though, but I agree the loss of VR missions and also the demo theatre from MGS2 is a real shame. Not enough space on the discs I think.

MGS1 was NOT converted correctly - it was full screen but it ran an awful lot slower in PAL. (I have both versions of this too)

Besides the fact you said it was impossible one minute, and then agreed with me... you didn't seem too clear on the whole subject when asking about 100hz TVs, so how are you speaking with such confidence now?

I agree that mgs2 was converted correctly, but mgs1 was converted correctly too, and even if there is a slight difference, then mgs1 would be the better conversion because it's easier in ps1 games.

Well, I completed this over the weekend. It's still a fantastic game now with swish graphics. Anyone spot the Nintendo 'easter eggs' planted around the game? They were pretty obvious so I'm guessing you did. The whole Psycho Mantis bit was mental - "You like playing on The Legend of Zelda, don't you?"

I couldn't help but think it was much easier than the PS1 version - maybe because I knew what was coming? I don't know, but the battles that were once a challenge turned out to be a breeze. Even the torture was tame this time around.

Just a couple of thangs:

Where's the VR missions? That really let me down when they weren't in there (or am I not looking hard enough?).

Where's the camera? I wanted to do the whole 'ghost-hunter' thing but I cannot remember how to get hold of the camera!

So, still a fantastic game, and despite the fact I finished it straight away, it was definitely worth it.

Well, for those of us without computer brains that can judge timing of things to the nearest thousandth of a second, it's the exact same speed.

You know how people criticise games for being bad PAL conversions? That's because it is actually possible to do good PAL conversions... developer's have got no excuses.

MGS2 was one of the good ones. I have both the PAL and Japanese version of it, they run at the same speed and the PAL one doesn't have a 60hz option.

Actually, I just remembered - the original MGS *did* run a lot faster on the Japanese copy. However MGS2 and Twin Snakes PAL versions run at the exact same speed as the NTSC ones.

It's optimised at 50hz, the same as all of the other Metal Gear games.

Nothing, I don't have a 60hz TV to give as an example. My 100hz TV though throws up a selection to whether I want 50 or 60hz for most of my games however for Metal Gear I think it just automatically detects them. The 10hz is only important if you want a completely flicker free picture and I watch a shed load of DVD's on a regular occassion. Apart from that it has no relevance to this topic. I was just saying that with it being over the import refresh rate default that it does auto detect the settings.

I don't understand. What's the importance of a 100 hz TV ?
