Do Mario games appeal to me? No. Do Zelda games appeal to me? No.
Does MGS2 appeal to me? Yes. Does Smackdown 2 appeal to me? Yes.
Why is this?? Well, it's partly because the first ever console I got was a PSX, which unlike the N64, didn't specialise in cartoonie platformers (that is not a dig, just telling the truth.)
It's also just down to taste, I guess. While Mario and Donkey Kong appeal to some, Solid Snake and games such as GT3 appeal to others.
I remember going over to Darkness' house to play on the N64. I enjoyed it there, as Darkness is a good mate and we both love games, but you end up thinking to yourself, "I much prefer the PSX games."
Darkness felt the same way round my house I expect, but now he has a PS2-I don't feel like that anymore!
So people who say, "Ah, but the GameCube's specs are better and Nintendo are more experienced, that means the games will be better than on PS2!"
That my be true...for that person. This person may feel as though the games Nintendo create are better than what the PS2 has to offer.
But for me, I much prefer what the PS2 has to offer, which I'm sure people such as Wookie, Turbonutter, ssxpro and Bonus will agree with.
I guess I'm contradicting what I've said before in these forums, and I expect I will in the future. {:) Although, I expect we all do at some point. I mean-why are we all arguing over which console is 'best' on these forums?!
Anyway, one final thing. Good luck to you with your GameCube. I won't be buying it, and I hope it won't do as well as the PS2-but I hope you guys enjoy it.
Thanks for reading, Ant.
Zelda, Perfect dark, and Mario are the main games. the top sellers. without these games anywhere near launch i think it could be a very bad move.
There are many launch titles I want, so I'll get a GAMECUBE at launch.
I was planning to get a Gamecube on launch, but i aint so sure now. THats why i went and bought a PS2 on friday. I did this becasue i thik i woont be gettin a Gamecube until very late 2002 now.
that is: red faction, gt3, mgs2 are all great games.
honestly, i'd love to own them myself.
however, paying over £400 quid for this small selection of great games is not exactly what i'm prepared to do, let's hope i win a ps2 somehow, then i'll get 'em.
now for £400 quid i'd have a gc with 4 or 5 games and a few peripherals, which seems much more appetising. also, i think the links of perfect dark 2, zelda gc, mario, ssx, donkey kong racing, smash bros, phantasy star online, blah blah, i could go on a long time will do me very well. on top of this konami will make ISS so they're not all ps2 and virtua striker along with the other virtuas should be a much greater contribution than konami who really aren't that good of publishers anyway, with many bad games.
undoubtedly the ps2 is good, but at the price it is with the few great games it has, i'll keep my £400, thanks. the ps2 will probably end up more successful cuz of morons who buy it along with every tomb raider and fifa games chucked out with little to no improvements, but those of us who want good games will buy themselves a gc.
finally, there will be a wwf game on gc, and looking at raw on xbox, smackdown is hardly an invaluable asset to the ps2
> there rumors that MGS2 is coming to the gamebcube anyway
Hideo Kojima has said that MGS2 is a PS2-only game.
So you may get MGS, but not MGS2. Unlikely, though.
