Heinz-Harald Frentzen will not be competing in this weekend's German Grand Prix following a falling out with the Jordan team. According to an official statement from the team, test driver Ricardo Zonta will step into Frentzen's role. The team also announced that the German driver will no longer be competing for the team.
"With immediate effect, Jordan has terminated their contract with Frentzen for the 2001 and 2002 World Championships and the team's third driver, Ricardo Zonta, will replace him for the upcoming German Grand Prix at Hockenheim," read a statement from the team.
“It has been a disappointing season for both of us,” explained Jordan's Chief Executive, Eddie Jordan. “We had an exchange of views following the British Grand Prix and this is the outcome.”

I wonder what else will happen this weekend. It was at this GP last year that Barrichello won from 18th on the grid, I wonder if anything like that will happen this weekend.
The Williams will be strong, no doubt about that, but can they last the race?
Comments and opinions please.
It must annoy them when are continuously out-performed by the Jordan's. Same engine, I'd imagine BAR have more money flying about, and they still can't qualify regularly in the top half.
The Lucky Strike BAR Honda team delightfully announced their 2002 driver line-up today, putting an end to speculations that Jacques Villeneuve may have been on the verge of defecting from the Brackley based squad. Both Villeneuve and current teammate, Olivier Panis will continue to drive for the team in 2002 meaning that everyone concerned will continue to benefit from a stable driver line-up, affording the continuity needed to help it progress and achieve its ambitions.
2002 will be Jacques Villeneuve's 4th consecutive season with British American Racing underlining his desire to help the team realize its true potential with more podium finishes.
"I am looking forward to working with Lucky Strike B.A.R Honda in 2002,” Villeneuve remarked. “Next year we should improve significantly and I'm confident that we can achieve some good results. I have been with the team for three seasons - since the beginning - and during that time there has been a steady progression. I'm very happy that we will continue working together to make the team as competitive as possible. It is also good news that Olivier and I will continue as teammates. We work well together and that is important for the team to move forward and make the necessary progress."
Olivier Panis has more than justified his return to full-time racing during his impressive first season with the team, the highlights being points-scoring performances in Brazil and Austria and the Frenchman is more than pleased with the extension to his current contract.
"I am extremely happy to continue with Lucky Strike B.A.R Honda in 2002,” he beamed. “Stability is a key factor in the future of the team and I believe that, together with Honda, we can go on to achieve great success. When I joined it was because Craig Pollock, the team and the partners had faith in my ability to come back into full-time racing and be successful again. In return, I had the same faith in them and their ambition to fight with the top teams in the Constructors Championship. Things haven't always turned out as we expected but it means a lot to me that we still have that same confidence in each other. The fact that Jacques and I will continue to be teammates is also very important. We've had nearly a year together to get to know each other better and to understand how we both work. Jacques is a fierce competitor and I look forward to working with him again as we challenge the 2002 Championships. Now that everything has been cleared up for next season, I intend to focus on the six races remaining this year and do my utmost to achieve the best possible result in 2001."
"So far, 2001 has been a difficult season for Lucky Strike B.A.R Honda but the strength of our driver line-up continues to shine through,” added Craig Pollock. “Jacques and Olivier have been doing an amazing job. We still have six Grand Prix to focus on and they will just keep pushing all the way. I am very happy that the partnership will continue next season. To fight at the top end of the Constructors' Championship you need two heavyweight drivers and we certainly have that in Olivier and Jacques. The momentum their combined talent brings is an enormous boost to the team. Now it's over to us to give them the tools to do the job in 2002. We have to produce a car that's capable of consistent podium finishes and which takes us nearer to our first win. I believe the continuity Olivier and Jacques will bring, combined with our ongoing partnership with Honda, means we can all look forward to the future with confidence."
No thanks!
I don't think Hakkinen would take the win, I'm hoping he's going to help DC this weekend.
Ideally I'd like to see this result:
DC, Hakkinen, Montoya, Trulli, Irvine, Button
But we'll have to wait and see what happens.
They have the fastest (straightline) car, but they'll have a huge problem slowing it down at the end of the straights. Brake discs can only be a certain thickness, so it wouldn't surprise me if they wear them out.
You can never discount Big Schuey, but I want Coulthard to win.
Anyway, my mate told me last night about Frentzen, and I thought he was winding me up. I look on the 'net today, and there it is.
Very strange, but I bet we never find out what the reasoning behind it is.
