Heinz-Harald Frentzen will not be competing in this weekend's German Grand Prix following a falling out with the Jordan team. According to an official statement from the team, test driver Ricardo Zonta will step into Frentzen's role. The team also announced that the German driver will no longer be competing for the team.

"With immediate effect, Jordan has terminated their contract with Frentzen for the 2001 and 2002 World Championships and the team's third driver, Ricardo Zonta, will replace him for the upcoming German Grand Prix at Hockenheim," read a statement from the team.

“It has been a disappointing season for both of us,” explained Jordan's Chief Executive, Eddie Jordan. “We had an exchange of views following the British Grand Prix and this is the outcome.”

I wonder what else will happen this weekend. It was at this GP last year that Barrichello won from 18th on the grid, I wonder if anything like that will happen this weekend.

The Williams will be strong, no doubt about that, but can they last the race?

Comments and opinions please.

I hope not, Katayama hardly ever got any points!

I thought I'd heard his name mentioned somewhere, probably on Eurosport. I still think Martin Brundle's Bentley should have won Le Mans.

He has been driving in GT Championships and Le Mans, but I don't know whether he has been driving in Formula 3. I think he may be focusing on Toyota.

Allan McNish? Isn't he a Formula 3 driver? (Probably wrong, haven't followed F3 for a long time)

It looks as though Allan McNish is going to get the Toyota seat along side Mika Salo.

Sato is highly respected in the F1 paddock and is under a long term contract with BAR as their test driver. Honda also have a liking for Sato so BAR might loan out Sato to Jordan so he can gain experience and stay with a Honda engined team.

On teletext (BBC),it says that there are 2 drivers for the contendership for the 2nd drivers seat at Jordan but it did'nt say wherever it was a battle now or at the end of this season. And anyway the other driver actually is an F3 called Takuma Sato (quite possibly the next Ukyo Katayama)

I believe Trulli is far too good a driver for Jordan to miss out on. Zonta is not a bad driver himself, he deserves a decent chance. As for Toyota 2nd driver, I predict a F3000 driver with plenty of ability.

I belive that Frentzen has already been at his driving peak back in 1999 where he finished 3rd so I think Toyota might not be interested now considering he has already refused once.
Who would partner Mika Salo next season? What about the loser to the No.2 seat at Jordan (either Zonta or the other fellow)?

BAR deserve what they have become and that is an average team with average achievements. Their cocky style at the start has not paid off and they deserve the struggle that they are currently enduring. Every team has had to go through a stage of building and rebuilding and BAR are no exception, no matter how much money they have.

Toyota have spent a number of years building this team with Mika Salo working and I think is driving for them too, hoping to develop the car to something they can win with. I believe that Toyota will start in the congested mid-field and will slowly progress, like everyone else and if they were to sign Frentzen, it will be a very good signing for Toyota and he will bring plenty of experience. But will this be a good move for Frentzen, who is now 34, in what could be a fading career?

So you don'tlike the BAR's or do you think that they are now just the average cars?

What kind of impact do you think Toyota will have on next year's championship & do you think that Frentzen would join them?
