We've been asked to play the Essex Fm Roadshow this Sunday.
£400 for 30 mins in front of a couple of thousand people.
Now, my problem is this:

I despise local radio, Essex FM especially for churning out the same old pop noise and generally suffering from regional radio apathy. Do I refuse to do this, out of principle

Or

Do I agree, we take the money and use it towards studio time, equipment etc, you never know who might be listening and any press is good press etc?

They wanted us to mime and we point blank refused unless half-way through the song, me and the bass player switched.
So, at least we get to do it live.

But..Essex Fm?...it's gonna be screaming kids and Essex folks there to watch the station dancers to their stuff.

So, integrity and dignity or £400 and some "regional" radio exposure?

"That's when I found you don't mess around with the funky cold medina"

What a top tune.

I won't be miked up anyway.
We're not a sweary type band, our motto is "parents are the new rock and roll".

It's just me trying to find some minor act of rebellion so I don't feel too stupid on a roadshow is all.

I have been busting a gut to get the boys to cover "Wild Thing" by Tone Loc or "Walk This Way" by Aerosmith and Run Dmc.

But no luck yet.

Either swear, or promote yourself as this clean living pop band and then play thrash metal ala Cradle of Filth.

Swearing's not big and it's not clever, as you've said yourself Goatyboy.

Why go and swear on the radio? Because it's 'Rock n Roll'?

Now THAT is a plan.

I'm getting the t-shirt, although I do have a Fudge Tunnel shirt that says "We sold our souls for corporate rock" on the back in big Black Sabbath type lettering.

I guess.
It's just me being "Mr Integrity" and thinking "Essex fm?.ewwwwww.."

But what the hell, it's radio.

No idea where it is yet, just know it's the essex fm roadshow.
We've been told "No swearing, no drinking"
I'm getting a t-shirt printed with "Shill" on it though, I have to express my moral outrage somehow.

Swallow your pride, and Satans scaly lunchbox and do it. It's all about exposure, even if it is Essex FM. How many people listen to that? For the promising up and coming band it has to be worth it.

I promise to close my third eye.....

Just out of interest, where about is the road show? I may pop along as I'm home for the weekend.
