Been a bit on the quiet side around here recently so thought I would try and ramp things up a bit. There has been some good games turn up in 2009 but most of them have been sequels which although fun haven't really done much we hadn't seen many times before.Batman Arkham Asylum is the only non sequel game which I thought really stood out from the crowd this year.Sequels/spin offs (Modern Warfare 2,Guitar Hero : Metallica,Streetfighter IV,Forza Motorsport 3 ,Tekken 6,Need For Speed : Shift etc.) were all fun but were nothing really new.Personally I would like to sequels move away from the 'play it safe' mode they seem to have been stuck over recent times. How about Tiger Woods 2011 where you get to play as his wife ?,the Wii version could allow you to pick up household objects and hurl them at his dirty cheating ass !.Or how about Call Of Duty : Back To School where you are armed with wedgies, nuggies and chinese burns, get a 7 wedgie streak and get to flush a 1st years head down the toilet !.These are obviously not serious suggestions but I'm sure you get the idea.Tony Hawks : RIDE tried something different with it's wireless skateboard thing which I would like to commend it on but if you have played the thing you will already know it is a truly useless piece of fun free garbage.DJ Hero has sold like hot ice cream as well and is currently being discounted just about everywhere.Hence why games developers will fear trying something totally different, which is a real shame IMO as I am starting to get a little bit bored of playing the same old stuff.Anyway enough of my rambling, what are you guys looking forward to getting your mitts on next year ?.

Oh yeah, just to pretty much contradict everything I have said I do quite fancy the new Army Of Two game which is of course a straight sequel of what was a blatant Gears Of War clone ! :)

Personally I thought Halo 3 was probably the most overrated game of recent years.Wasn't terrible just extremely average IMO.Thing I really didn't like though were the annoying 12 year old kids that seem to live on it,couldn't be arsed with them at all.As FPS's go I'm quite looking forward to Aliens : Colonial Marines, that looks pretty interesting.Crysis 2 is heading to consoles in 2010 as well gameplay footage can be seen here. Will probably have a look at that when it arrives.

Franchise is a bit niche for me.

Well, I'd quite like some paragraphs in 2010. :D

To answer the question, there are a number of games that are interesting in 2010.

Mass Effect 2 is out early 2010 and is probably the first major release.

For PS3 owners, MAG is supposedly out early 2010 and a game that is certainly interesting me is Heavy Rain.

Still in the first few months of the year, perhaps something like Splinter Cell Conviction or Just Cause 2 might interest some.

For MMO fans, we should be seeing Star Wars The Old Republic and Star Trek Online. Both look pretty good.

For racing fans, we will be seeing the first F1 racing game from Codemasters on the 360 and PS3 with F1 2010 and then there is the explosive racing game Split Second made by Disney.

Release dates are a little unknown for these next ones but they are all potentially good: Alan Wake, Max Payne 3, Monkey Ball Step and Roll (if you have a balance board handy), Alpha Protocol, Gran Turismo 5, The Last Guardian, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Pikmin 3, the new Wii Zelda and many more. And that is before I even mention the newly announced games like Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 and the Force Unleashed 2.

And maybe if you like Halo, you'll be looking forward to Halo: Reach...
