I'm very sorry for getting so angry. I've been here long enough to know the rules, and I shouldn't complain.
Anyway, the main reason was that I just hope people aren't winning for copying key combinations onto SR from sites such as SR.
I don't mind people winning for tips, or cheats they've found themselves. Of course, we don't know if they're copied or not-which is why I am apologizing.
Sorry Mr Snuggly!
Thanks for reading, Ant.
TO be honest (and I really don't mean to sound like a suck up here) I'm amazed at how many posts you manage to get through each day.
I've seen the forums rise from a couple of hundred or so posts a day this time last year, to at least a thousand a day now. It must take a massive effort to read all of these, and then decide between some of the better ones.
In the case of reviews, I'd agree that those
> copied from elsewhere should not be allowed to win
100% agree there mate.
Reviews are personal opinions and give someone the chance to imprint their style on something and like you say, cheats are from other places, nobody "finds" them.
I did try on Tomb Raider though, the underwater room bit..I would have spent 40 years trying the combos just to get past it.
Cheats are copied in, but cheats have to be.
Reviews should be personal and individual.
But it's just the same people time after time after time hollering about this.
"and no complaining, nobody likes a whinger"
> Dan, just saying that people will win GAD for entering cheats and

In the case of reviews, I'd agree that those copied from elsewhere should not be allowed to win, as they are generally someone else's intellectual property, and therefore copyright. But we can't expect SR to check all the mags or web sites just to ensure that a review is original.
Cheats are a different matter, though. I assume that all cheats - or at least 95% of them - are copied from other sites or magazines. After all, who among us actually sits down with the latest version of Tomb Raider and presses combinations of 15 buttons (and actually remembers that sequence!) to see if it gives you infinite ammo? I know there are AR carts now that take a lot of the work out of certain types of cheats, but still most of those are downloaded from web sites. As with reviews, there's no way we can realisitcally expect SR to know all cheats for all games on all platforms in order to know which are 'original' and the work of the person submitting them.
Maybe the GAD regulations for cheats should be changed to clearly state that a game may be awarded for the best cheats 'shared with the members of this site' - regardless of where they came from.
Either way, if you do suspect someone of copying someone else's work, probably the best thing to do (and this is *not* a pop at Dan2K1 but a general comment) is mail SR at the Gameaday address, stating why you believe/know it's copied, rather than bringing it to the forums.
Anyway, didn't Tony say something about FoG having its very own GAD from August?
Just out of interest, how many of you work on just the GAD and FAD side of things. To read all those posts and reviews etc must take all day!

EXCUSE ME? Sorry, do you work here? Do you know how much work goes into these two competitions every single day? Here's news for you Dan, we have an average of about 1600-1800 posts a day at UKchatforums, plus about 30-35 reviews at UKreviews and about 100 cheats every day. EVERY SINGLE ENTRY is looked at and checked - do you have any idea how long this takes? It takes AGES Dan, absolutely ages, the sad thing is, the more popular it gets, the longer it takes to check. Each review submitted is fed into a few search engines to see if it has been copied, and we check some other review sites that we know of to see if it is a fake - how much time do you think that takes?
To suggest that Gameaday is not on our list of priorities is childish and clearly ignorant - if you knew how much of my day is taken up selecting winners and reading through discussion posts, maybe you'd feel differently. Next time, before you open your mouth, think about what you're going to say because this remark has offended me, personally. We go out of our way to provide a good, fun competition for all of our users, whether they've been here for a few days or a few years, it's a shame when people make ignorant comments like the one you have made.
I'm sorry if I've been a bit harsh, but I took that as a personal slight, as well as a slight on the other people who check Gameaday each day. Please, if you've got something to say, e-mail me.
Thanks
Ali
Will you Dan? Will you throw a one-off man mental and unleash the dragon?
