I found this cheap the other day, and remembering the rave critical acclaim, I tried it.

But the thing is, although I could understand SOME darkness in the game, this is taking pisss! You can barely see what anything is. You walk into a wall and all you see is pitch black. You turn around looking for some light to see where you are. No dice.

So you turn and hold forward until you think you can see something.

Now personally, it's so poor that I'm starting to think my set-up is wrong with the graphics card... I mean people loved this game, and I don't care what difference of opinions people have, no one would find the game I played fun!

Anysway, if anyone has an inkling of what I'm saying then any help would be appreciated. :-)

See how I always wind up here whenever I buy a PC game?
Stupid bugged things! :-D

Eh?

Of course it was the same story, when I play Max Payne I don't expect it to change into an online abacus at random times. What you did changed the way things went and they did effect certain parts of the story, as I have said before this is more than 95% of modern games offer. Knights of the old Republix is one of very few games I have played that really allows you to chabge the game and even that didn't reallt take shape until right at the end.

I meant narrative as in story - it was the same story all the time, just wiht little bits made different. Meh, I didn't like it, except for making turrets kill everyone.

I'm off to play Empire Earth. Classic game.

You could select your replies to the narration making it less linear than 95% of modern games.

The FPS bit was dreadul. Non-linear.....as in it was the first game to offer such choice? I might accept that. But non-linear is a very relative term in games - It certainly was not in terms of narrative...

Deus Ex is absolutely superb.

RPG/FPS non-linear brilliance.

Not really seeing as a lot of those awards were user voted on mass. I don't need it to justify how good the game was but it certainly gives it a fair amount of deserved credit.

That means nothing - Franz Ferdinand is loved by most music reviews.

Inexplicable much?!

- All locations looked the same - at night and boring
- Choices weren't actually involving or really neccessary
- Combat was laughable
- I couldn't give a toss about any of the people

Apart from that, it was alright.

I personally wasn't too keen on it, nor Deus Ex 2. They're not my type of game.

Yes thats why it won 36 seperate GOTY awards.

If you play the game slapping your wrists saying it has "Mega Drive graphics", what do you expect?
