Wouldn'nt it be great if we could bring role playing games into the real world ?
How's about this idea:
This game would require people to take a good few days off work in order to participate.
Each gamer would register with a serving website, and be allocated a certain character, with certain characteristics.
Then on the morning the game beings, each gamer would be sent an SMS to indicate where they need to go to start participating in the game.
The game provider would perform the role of the master (similar to the role of a dungeon master in RPG board games).
Each gamer, or group of gamers, would be given a task to complete, in real time. The task could be supplemented with clues in the form of SMS messages, or better still interactive video clips on their 'multimedia phones'.
When two gamers meet then they may be forced to do battle, or indeed to group together to battle with others.
As I said earlier, the phone knows your strengths and weaknesses, and can also access information about your opponent.
The game would progress over a day, or a week or whatever, with users having to travel around (could be city based or country-wide) in order to progress.
Also, this could be televised, with the general public being asked to occasionaly participate in order to help or hinder the gamers.
The end goal would be to reach a treasure point, and defeat a boss character (again as specified by the game providers), with the overall winner getting a large cash prize.
I reckon this is something that could really take off.
Any opinions or improvements ?
Wouldnt that be good that u choose a character and are put somewhere random on the world map or whatever. Then Sony or someone could give you a destination and you will have to go there WITHOUT a map and you have not got an idea of where to go. so you just have to go to places and interact with other gamers and ask them for advice and directions. That would be cool, u could help each other or give wrong directions so the other person doesnt get to the destination in time. And whoever gets to the destination first wins.
What do u think?
