Wouldn'nt it be great if we could bring role playing games into the real world ?
How's about this idea:
This game would require people to take a good few days off work in order to participate.
Each gamer would register with a serving website, and be allocated a certain character, with certain characteristics.
Then on the morning the game beings, each gamer would be sent an SMS to indicate where they need to go to start participating in the game.
The game provider would perform the role of the master (similar to the role of a dungeon master in RPG board games).
Each gamer, or group of gamers, would be given a task to complete, in real time. The task could be supplemented with clues in the form of SMS messages, or better still interactive video clips on their 'multimedia phones'.
When two gamers meet then they may be forced to do battle, or indeed to group together to battle with others.
As I said earlier, the phone knows your strengths and weaknesses, and can also access information about your opponent.
The game would progress over a day, or a week or whatever, with users having to travel around (could be city based or country-wide) in order to progress.
Also, this could be televised, with the general public being asked to occasionaly participate in order to help or hinder the gamers.
The end goal would be to reach a treasure point, and defeat a boss character (again as specified by the game providers), with the overall winner getting a large cash prize.
I reckon this is something that could really take off.
Any opinions or improvements ?
No seriously shall I give this idea to the developer or someone withing the gaming industry???
Could work I suppose
But dont u think it could be a bit difficult???
Say if there are 5 players online. One from Bristol, another one from London, third from Newcastle, fourth from Northampton and so on. And say the challenge is to go to Bath or whatever. Itll prove a bit difficult dont ya think??And costly!!!
Ok so it could be possible to find people who live in the same town as u. But some people may not be bothered to go out or they havent got any money or they have to walk the dog...U know what I mean
I would prefer to do challenges in-game. There could be a random map generator of some sort so u will not have any advantage against new players. I dont know..
What do u think
> OK. Part of the game could begin on the PS2.
You buy a disc in order to participate. (remember online gaming is on the way). As you progress through whatever game is provided for the PS2, you get assignments where you need to go out into the real world and accomplish a specific task. When you complete that task, you can then upload this information via the PS2 to the game server, where the next section of your game then opens up on PS2....
