Didn't realise Enix had even bothered to bring any of the DQ games to the West.

I know they've recently released a remake of DQ5 in Japan for PS2.

Dragon Quest knocks Final Fantasy into a cocked-hat for popularity. It's THE most popular series in Japan.

I'm with you. I can't have SO3 and DQVIII on the go either. I did have the Japanese version of Star Ocean 3, but had to sell since the language barrier was insurmountable, but from what I played, it seemed like a very, very good RPG.

Indeed we would, i had Dragon Warrior VII on my PSX (which is the american name for the Dragon Quest series i believe) and it was an awesome game not as good as FF7 but wiped the floor with FF8 and FF9.

Hope it's not August that's when Star Ocean 3 is out too in America. Can't really have 2 RPG's on the go at once.

And yea i could see why they did that in Japan they are totally crazy about their videogames, especially one like Dragon Quest (i think i'm right in saying it's more popular than Final Fantasy over there) can just see a ton of schoolkids legging it too the shops to get their hands on a copy

I think DQVIII is out soon-ish as it goes; August I think. Although I found out the other day that it's actually the LAW in Japan that Enix cannot release it on a school day, since loads of kids would skip school to play the game on release.

That's good to hear, i would get the Japanese version but as the American release is close now and i still need to finish off a few games i'm going to wait for it. I'm hoping Dragon Quest VIII comes out soon in Japan as i definitly want to get that.

It's actually quite good and very much like it's predecessor. The best thing about the JPN version is that it's "mostly" in English, with the exception being the story.

What's front mission 4 like? I'm waiting for the american release before i get it. Is it as good as number 3 and is it still a strategy RPG system?
