Having rented/soon to own Escape from Monkey Island, I am pretty (well, totally) new to this series, and there are a couple of jokes I feel should be funny but, well, aren't.

Could someone explain the significance of:

Porcelain
The mysterious houses in Melee that transport you across the road
Why everything is the "Secong biggest..."? What's the first?

Also, is there anything else I should know?

Sorry can't help you out there. I only played The curse of monkey island. i thought it was great while it lasted, not much replay value though.

Im not quite sure...I'll have to have a think about them.

I suggest you buy Monkey Island 1, 2 and 3....they come in a multipack for about £20 or so... I think Monkey 2 was the best one.

They were the classics!
