Been talking to Shanks and YH this morning, and we all agree one thing:

Blokes need time with blokes and video games.

But our better halves don't understand this and think it's a slight on them.
It's not.
I spend most weeekends at my girlfriend's place until sunday/monday morning.

But times are that I fancy being at mine with mates and computer entertainment.
How do you say this though, without them getting moody and punishing you for a week with the most effective method?

This weekend, for example, I've arranged to go there from work tonight and I'll be there till Sunday.
Now, GT3 is out, Train Simulator is out, my mates are playing Operation Flashpoint online, I'm getting quite far into Black and White.

I'm not suggesting for one moment that games are a substitute for a soft, nice smelling companion - just there are times when, although you've made plans for the weekend, you suddenly think "Damn, I want to play computer games".

Being 28, some might say "Too immature", I'm not.
Well...I am, but that's not the point.

So, weekend doing adult things with my girlfriend, or weekend being a kid - but not doing adult things with my gf.

Damn.
I want both

Maybe there should be a way of merging Girl-Friends and Computer games...

Unfortunatly the only ones I can think of bring a whole new meaning to platform titles!?!

When youre desperate, just take a day off to play games, but don't tell her.

Leave for work as usual, then hide round the corner until she is gone, then come home and play all day.

Eat at Macdonalds so there is no evidence, and leave in time for you to keep the illusion if you get home from work after her.

Works every time!

Well, I'm going home for the weekend, as I still don't know enough people to make it worthwhile staying down here.

Got a cards night at my brothers tonight, I'll lose lots of money but but no doubt come back with lots of questions, like the ones it chat, to pose to you all over next week.

Then, saturday night, out on the town with some essex girls, can't be bad!

Hmm well this week-end I am going away to family friends in Kilmarnock of which there is a very attractive female of my age... What do I say?

Screw the games (cue poor joke)

Agreed, I think a thread should be set up so when people have a good idea for an excuse, they can pop it in there for us all to use.

Did that.
Black and White came out, she got hooked.
I was there at 2am saying "Look, you hate computer games, leave it be would you? Come to bed"

"No, I'm just getting my tiger to eat corn"
She stayed up till 4am on that.
Strangely, when she next played it, her tiger had "disappeared" from the game.

Odd that.

Nah, I'm going over there this weekend, and next week playing games.

best of both worlds, but we DO need a list of excuses

You know you want to, deep down.

Go and see her, get some good ol' lovin' and be refreshed and ready to play games all next week.

Or, if you're really desperate to play games, go to hers, and play games at her house.

No PC at hers? Simple, take yours round for the weekend.

Well, you can't have your cake AND eat it. How about you play games tonight and go to hers first thing tomorrow?

I know what you mean though. Sometimes you just want to get thelads round, get some pizzas and some beer in, and play Goldeneye or Mario Kart all evening.

It's a difficult choice, but one that has an obvious answer.

Go to the gf's, play games all next week.
