Can you also use a switch or hub?

Had a load of writing but as that damn URL wouldnt post in [URL] etc then it erased my post :(
Anyway Stridman I think your going to have little chance of connecting both PC and XBox at the same time. From what I understand the ethernet/usb modems like you have do not work with both ethernet and usb at the same time, so its either using the ethernet port or the usb port. Have you tried using both to see if you can? If you can then problem solved. I dont think you will find a router which will connect to your PC via USB and then connect to the XBox as ethernet.
My experience of USB modems never included an ethernet socket. I just plugged the modem into a USB port and into the phone line and I was off.
I gotta go school anyway.
I've just remembered that my computer doesn't have an ethernet port, does this matter. My modem has a port but my PC doesn't because its one of those crap PCs where everything is built in the screen.
And the cables. They may be crossover cables and not straight, in which case will not work on a router as they effectively imitate a router on direct connections.
Best wait for the experienced lot to come online. They'll help far better than my attempts :D
I've just remembered, i've still got the ethernet cable from when i bought my PS2 network adaptor. So now i have two ethernet cables, do i just need to get a router now. Sorry about all the questions, im not very clever when it comes to all this computer stuff and i need to make sure im doing the right thing.
As ar as I know, you won't be able to connect a USB modem to a router. USB modems are inted for direct connection to the PC. If you want a router, you're going to need a Ethernet Modem and a Network card (If you don't already have an ethernet socket in your PC). You can get Ethernet ADSL modems quite cheap these days. If this is the route you'll have to take, I'd recommend an integrated modem/router (although it doesn't have to be as expensive as the one I recommended you). This will give you your ethernet modem and include a built-in router.

That is, if USB modems are incompatible with routers...
